Had a great time on Friday at a Friday Deployment Spirits gathering. Got a fun sticker, no other photos were taken. If you drink spirits and occasionally deploy, check out fridaydeployment.co for options.

In so many places. Yesterday was out at night and saw two different cyclists riding on the road, without a light, going the *wrong* way.

The "why should society's rules apply to me?" crowd is having a renaissance 🫠

The best employees make you feel confident that someone competent could step in tomorrow if they suddenly disappeared. They share knowledge, document what matters, and actively reduce how much the organization depends on them. And ironically… that’s what makes them indispensable.

So when a prospect says a free tool does the same thing, your price isn't the problem. They haven't seen the bill for "free" yet. Don't defend your price, and don't apologize with a discount. Turn the objection around: "If you think I'm expensive, you should see how expensive 'free' is." (3/5)

Hey so just a heads up, if you take a speakerphone call in a bar you're an asshole. If the call is so loud I can hear it happening over the music in the bar, you're beyond redemption.

Cannot believe how easy a tool like Opencode makes interacting with the GitHub API. 👨‍🍳💋

When stuff like this can be built in a few days, why use a commercial project like @fusionauth.io or an OSS project like Keycloak? It depends, based on answers to qs like who: - maintains it? - monitors for edge cases? - operates it? - understands the domain? - handles security? - is accountable?

🔐 Two-factor auth (TOTP) with backup codes 🏢 SSO for vendor teams over OIDC and SAML, with just-in-time provisioning and an option to require SSO 🔄 SCIM provisioning so Okta and Entra ID can add and remove people, and removed people lose access right away ...

In this case, where I stand depends on where I sit, but I believe this is as true for your CRM, database, or queuing system as it is for your auth provider.

There are SO MANY internal tools written with PHP :/ Good luck even knowing what all those tools are, much less patching them before anyone realizes they are vulnerable.

Yes! Maybe you use an agent to help you write it, but this is a perfect use of deterministic software that is cheap to run and 99.9% likely to do the same thing each time.

They were planning to have an AI agent checking everything every 30 minutes. But... why? You could write a regular piece of software that retrieves articles from specific sources on a schedule, removes duplicates, and saves them. You could use a scheduler to run it whenever you want. 4/14
