Reminders for myself to not behave like this is Twitter. Before I react to something: - Is it true/factual (before sharing) - Does it need to be said/share (is it helpful) - Does it need to be said/shared BY ME - Are they engagement farming

Because I know I'm essentially voting D on the ballot, but that stubborn part of me hates voting for all one party, my protest is going to be: If there is only one candidate listed, I'm leaving it blank.

I finished reading "Stolen in Death" by JD Robb. A still like this series, even after all this time. #booksky #mystery (lite)

Hey Chicago! Brace for extra traffic tonight due to Bears vs New England game at Soldier Field, 7:15pm. Plan accordingly! 🏈🚗

I finished it. I am someone who prefers to watch the movie/tv show before reading the book (if I know in advance). This book supported that decision. I enjoyed the Netflix movie. I enjoyed the book. If I had read the book first, I would have been VERY distracted by the MANY modifications.

Short and sweet today, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday ducks and it's filled with good things and something delightful (besides yourself, because you are a delight) You are a treat! 💼🐧

Folks. If you are using touch screen voting machines, double check that they are correct. Stella Parton said that in Tennessee, the machine changed her vote to Blackburn three times. There are reports about the same thing in Texas too. Ask for a paper ballot if you can

The classical radio station has been playing pseudo Xmas songs today. Greensleeves Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies etc.

I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it a million more. The goal isn’t to get them to vote with us. It’s to get them to stay the fuck home. MAGA & MAGA friendly voters becoming politically disengaged would be a massive win.

We had a blast at The Volunteer Fair in Wicker Park talking to voters about ranked choice voting! Grassroots education and advocacy is the foundation of this work, and it takes a village! Thank you to all of our volunteers!

the second el-sayed chose to treat tommy as an equal and not a nuisance, tommy was cooked

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

My Saturday plans were cancelled (she had a good reason). I think I adjusted well: - 8am call to friend in Greece - chores - 1pm pedicure - food and/or shopping (ramen? sushi? vegan?) - 4:10 showing of Sense and Sensibility - evening - holiday cards (I do halloween instead of xmas/new years)

I got it done! With more adjustments. - 8am call to friend in Greece - errands - 1pm pedicure - 230 helped a friend pack for a move (not extensive, but enough to show progress) - 415: beer with said friend - 7pm showing of Sense and Sensibility

Fop [fop] (n.) 1. A man concerned overmuch with his clothes and appearance in an affected way; a dandy. 2. A conceited fool. (v.) 1. To make a fool of; to deceive or dupe. 2. To act foolishly. From Late Middle English “foppe” or “fobbe” (fop, fool) from German “foppen” (to jeer)

While the tech bros may think we have entered the era of AI, I think we've left the era of "excellence, not perfection" or "failure leads to innovation" and entered the era of "well, that's good enough, I guess".

Illinois’s population of high-income earners ($500k+) almost doubled between 2013 and 2023, but the millionaires who do leave are real loud, cranky, pains in the ass about it so the Trib Ed board tries to make it a problem for the rest of us

Chicago Tribune@chicagotribune.com

From the Editorial Board: Illinois already has a problem with affluent residents moving out of state as the tax burden has grown. Adding another 3 percentage points to income above $1 million is the equivalent of posting a flashing “exit this way” sign for those who remain.

While you’re galavanting around the city this weekend for Open House Chicago, take a second to think about how we could transform getting around the city: Pullman to Six Corners in under an hour. South Shore to Rogers Park in 47 minutes. Calculate your savings: stevevance.github.io/buildthetunn...

stevevance.github.ioCrossTowner Trip Planner — Build the TunnelPlan any Chicago-area rail trip and compare it today versus with the proposed CrossTowner regional-rail tunnel.

I just filed my first property tax appeal. I was kinda casual about it. I don't think it will be successful (even if I'd gotten formal and used an attorney), hence me casually filing it on a Friday night.

An important thing to note in this period of fascism is that fascists are historically not good at government. Their entire shtick is "oh yeah? Well that's so-and-so's fault." Actual governance requires you to have a solution that is not "well let's fuck those marginalized guys up."

But novels are never about what they are about; that is, there is always deeper, or more general, significance. The author may not be aware of this till she is pretty far along with it. —Diane Johnson

I placed a few orders in Sept. All but two arrived. One made it easy to get the items resent. Let's see how the second one goes!

Fail... they have customer service on chat, but there is some reason they can't help, so now I have to do it during "regualr business hours".

Scheduled the last pedicure of the season for Sat. Scrape off the sandal skin. No polish, let the nails get some air during the winter.

I finished reading "Framed in Death" by JD Robb. I enjoy crime lite - in books or tv. It is what I needed this week. #booksky

Today is Global Handwashing Day! Medicine laureate Jules Bordet's discoveries related to immunity helped identify the bacterium that causes whooping cough. This can be prevented with vaccines, and its spread slowed by washing hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds.
