On this day eight years ago, 11 people were killed and six others were wounded when a gunman armed with an AR-15, high-capacity magazines, and three Glock pistols opened fire at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA. It was the deadliest attack on a Jewish community in our nation’s history.

The Tree of Life synagogue is in Squirrel Hill, one of the largest Jewish neighborhoods in America and the center of Pittsburgh’s Jewish community. Its congregation was targeted because of their beliefs. White supremacy is inherently violent, but easy access to guns only makes it deadlier.

Today marks the deadliest mass shooting in Maine’s history. In 2023, a gunman armed with a Ruger AR-10 rifle and high-capacity magazines opened fire in a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston. Eighteen people were killed, including four deaf people, and 13 others were wounded.

We will honor those who were killed or whose lives were forever changed that horrific day in Lewiston by continuing our work to end gun violence. #LewistonStrong

Twelve years ago, a student invited other students to lunch at Marysville Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington. When they arrived, he opened fire, killing four of them and wounding one other.

Our schools should be sanctuaries of safety for students and educators, not where they go to die. We hold the victims and survivors in our hearts, today and every day, as we continue our work to end this scourge on our schools and communities.

Four years ago, a former student armed with an AR-15, high-capacity magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition opened fire at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis, Missouri, killing a 15-year-old student and a teacher. Seven other people were wounded.

Our children should never have to fear being shot in their schools. We hold the entire Marysville community in our hearts today, and we honor the victims and survivors with action to ensure no one is forced to experience their pain again.

After suffering years of abuse, Faith Mathisen’s mom, Grace, finally left her husband. In September 2023, a fatal confrontation ensued between Grace and her soon-to-be ex-husband.

We need leaders who will fight for policies that protect our families. That’s why our volunteers are running for office — to take the fight for gun safety from their communities and into the halls of power. Text ELECT to 644-33 to help get out the vote for Gun Sense Candidates in your community.

Kohen Wiley's family deserves justice, and justice requires transparency. We stand with Kohen's family in demanding the release of bodycam footage. Our communities deserve a system where every child's life is valued. Kohen deserved safety from those whose job it is to serve and protect.

This is the height of irresponsible gun ownership. This child’s life and the lives of everyone in that daycare was put in mortal danger due to an administrator’s recklessness. Guns do not belong in our daycares, full stop.

Gun violence in our schools is preventable, but lawmakers have shown that they would rather prioritize the gun lobby over children's lives. Any lawmaker who stands in the way of gun safety doesn't deserve to represent us. Text PLAN to 644-33 to make a plan to vote for Gun Sense Candidates.

Gretchen Miller’s primal reaction to learning her child was in danger is hard to listen to, but we must not look away. No mother should be forced to experience this kind of trauma, and we will not relent until this is no longer our reality. Text READY to 644-33 to join us.

We’re raising an entire generation of children who have grown up surrounded by the fear, pain, and trauma of school shootings. They deserve to learn and play without running from bullets. Join the movement to #EndGunViolence: Text READY to 644-33.

We refuse to accept constant grief and fear as our normal. We should not have to mourn children stolen by preventable school shootings. In honor of the victims, the two wounded survivors, and the entire community impacted by this terrifying shooting, we continue our work to #EndGunViolence.

Rhoam Summer was a bright student and adored by his loved ones. A family friend said “there are no words that can ease the pain” of this “heartbreaking loss.” Rhoam was five years old, and he had just started kindergarten at Silver Rail last month.

Megan Lambert was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School. Loved ones say she was “compassionate and had a huge heart. She always fought for the underdog and those with special needs.” Megan was 25 years old, and this was her first teaching job.

Yesterday, the Silver Rail Elementary School community lived through every parent's worst nightmare. When we send our children to school each morning, we deserve to know that they will come home to us alive. This fear and trauma doesn't have to be our normal.

This is the horrific reality that the gun lobby and its lawmaker allies force our teachers and children to experience: Hiding from an active shooter while fearing you won’t make it home alive. We don’t have to live and die like this. Demand change: Text READY to 644-33 to join us.

We REFUSE to accept school shootings as an inevitable part of life, and we will NEVER stop fighting until no child, educator, or staff member dies in what should be the safety of their schools. Join us: Text READY to 644-33.

Three children — ages 5, 8, and 11 — and their teacher didn’t come home to their families last night because this country has decided that mass shootings are an acceptable price to pay for unfettered access to guns.

We were founded 14 years ago after 20 children and six educators were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary. Fast forward to today: Our children continue to be gunned down in schools. Moms will never stop until every child can come home from school safely, without the threat of gun violence.

Children are among those wounded after a person opened fire inside Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Details are still unfolding. Our children and their educators should be able to come home from school without experiencing gun violence. Our hearts break for the Bend community.
