Also, this is random, but if you’ve followed me recently and I haven’t followed you back, here’s my policy: If you meaningfully engage (thoughtful replies, etc), I will almost always follow back. I love interacting with people on here! Likes are cool, but actually talking to people is more fun!

To anyone considering running for office, here is the winning strategy: Focus entirely on enacting a law that punishes mass political texts and calls with a *minimum* of a $5 billion dollar fine and 10 years in prison You will be the most popular politician in the country by a wide margin

NBA podcasters are currently racing to their mics to act like they thought the Walker Kessler transaction was brilliant the whole time

It’s almost like all the people who said “just get a legit big to pair with Luka” had a point AGAIN

THIS But also, I’m actually really liking the rookie too—going right at the superstar. Sorry Yaxel Lendeborg, I wasn’t familiar with your game.

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

lol I love Luka so much man. They put a rookie on him in the opener tonight, in his first game ever, and he took that as immense disrespect and just hit a halfcourt shot on him to end the half. The most spiteful guy in the NBA, he is the fucking best.

It’s game 1, things can and will change. With that said: all offseason, I heard podcasters talk about the Thunder & the Spurs like they were the ‘96 Bulls. I won’t be surprised if this is a preview of the western conference finals…but I also won’t be surprised if it isn’t. Both teams are beatable.

I was EXTREMELY critical of Mitch Johnson during the NBA Finals, but whatever he told his team at halftime seems to have worked. The Spurs suddenly look like a basketball team again.

Ok am I watching a different game than everyone else or am I just so tired that my brain isn’t working? The Spurs don’t look tough. They look like a broken team lashing out because they are getting completely outplayed and are down by 20+ points at the half.

Cannot believe that I’m annoyed on behalf of *THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER* because the refs are letting the other team get away with too much

The reputation of the entire Spurs organization is built on them doing things the right way. It was infuriating to watch Tim Duncan beat your team with bank shots, but you had to respect it. If they’re trying to pivot to “embracing being the villains”, I just don’t see that going well.

Everyone’s making fun of Chet for getting thrown down by a small guard, but I feel like I gotta point out the important part: You’re not allowed to throw your opponent in basketball What in the world is happening in San Antonio?

CJ Fogler@cjzero.bsky.social

De'Aaron Fox throws down Chet Holmgren and we have a kerfuffle

Idk about this Drummond/Knicks fit He’s played well IMO, and has had some really good stretches…but I just keep comparing him to what Mitchell Robinson brought to the team and looking ahead to the playoffs.

Anyone know why the NBA decided to have the season opener in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday?

Logging back onto social media is disorienting. People are upset about so many things. Sometimes, these things are legitimate and I feel embarrassed and ignorant because I wasn’t aware of the issue. And other times people seem to be trying to fight a random song for…reasons? Idk

Also, these are frequently the same people. And sometimes the posts are within minutes of each other. So yeah…very disorienting

The inability for NFL officials to agree on what constitutes a catch or a fumble can be traced back to the NFL being unwilling to admit that Dez Bryant caught the ball. NFL football literally makes less sense because they won’t cop to making a mistake.

Look, I’m a Nintendo fan. They make good games and always have. But it is *WILD* that all they have to do right now to dominate is to not actively try to step on as many rakes as they can find

All Nintendo has to do right now is just their normal thing and they will look like *geniuses*

I’m not sure that dedicated soccer fans understand how off-putting the FIFA drama was to people trying to get into the World Cup this year. I read, listened to podcasts, watched the games, and learned a lot. And now…I’m probably just out on future World Cups.

If you’re looking for something positive: We no longer need anyone to write about why soccer hasn’t “taken off” in the US The answers are pretty clear

Not trying to burst anyone’s bubble here, but… Peacock costs like $11/month and you get the Spanish broadcast It costs over $80/month for YouTube TV to get the English broadcast This is probably just a straightforward financial decision for a lot of people

Ryan Belmore@ryanbelmore.com

"According to Nielsen ratings, 20% of Telemundo's World Cup viewers speak English as their primary language. And overall, Lorenzo says the viewership on its telecasts has increased by 122% since the 2022 World Cup Games." www.npr.org/2026/07/02/n...

I completely understand being upset about the way FIFA handled this. I don’t really understand being upset that Balogun is available to play. The result is right even though the process was wrong. And I’m starting to understand that maybe FIFA & the World Cup just aren’t for me, which just sucks.

Pablo Maurer@mlsist.bsky.social

US president Donald Trump has done the whole of American soccer a disservice by involving himself in the Balogun red card saga. It's an unsusprising overreach that confirms the negative perceptions many already have about the USA. Me, on @us.theguardian.com: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Look, I’m no expert. But here’s my simple take on the situation: If you think Balogun should stay suspended OR should be allowed to play, direct your anger to the correct spot: FIFA Demand that they be better. We do it with other sports. There’s no reason they should be an exception.

Also: if you think *THIS* means there will be an asterisk next to anything the USMNT accomplishes during this World Cup…I’d suggest looking at the history of the World Cup. I promise, an opaque review process that results in a *correct* ruling does not even register on the FIFA sketchiness scale.

Mark@mmcd.bsky.social

If you find yourself getting upset that FIFA made the correct call because of the way it happened or the fact that it’s unprecedented, I’d suggest focusing that mental energy on wondering why an organization that’s over 120 years old still consistently has problems like this.

Idk if Trump had anything to do with it and doubt any of us ever will. Maybe FIFA did it for ratings, who knows? But the Balogun suspension *should* have been overturned and the fact that they don’t have simple, transparent processes for things like this needs to be fixed.

No previous Kinnikuman knowledge required; close to zero percent of kids in the US knew anything about the original when this show dropped onto Saturday morning TV.

Imagine being in charge of a big gaming company and telling your retail partners “We really only need like one shelf now and can share, you can give all the rest of that space to Nintendo I guess”

At one point, console wars were actually a real thing. Then, they were kind of a fake thing. For some time now, it’s been more like other companies willingly conceding market share to Nintendo for various reasons.

The gaming sections of big box stores are going to turn into mini Nintendo Worlds and people are going to write think pieces wondering why Nintendo resonates across generations

The most egregious example was the whole “Nintendo needs to make smartphone games like everyone else! Micro-transactions!!!” argument. Companies *willingly* devalued their games and IP for short-term gains, and basically handed Nintendo more prestige and credibility
