If we want to regulate AI, why not start with a simple law forcing LLMs to use "Meesa" instead of "I"? Easy to build, easy to verify and deflates a hype while still allowing people to use chatbots (so no one can claim we are limiting anything)

Every time someone links to this film, I have to repost it. It's one of the most significant bits of British 20th century art. Everything about it is incredible. Groundbreaking music production by Daphne Oram. Amazing camera work by Wolfgang Suschitzky (who later filmed Get Carter).-

reality of other people's lives. Statistics are a start, but we need to hear from people whose behaviour we wish to influence if we want to be effective. The rise in NEETs is a tragedy for them and a disaster for society - we need to know what is actually causing it if we hope to fix it. 4/5

discipline, which is a shame, because it *does* matter. We live in a society where people have very different experiences of life: rich people who drive in SUVs to their private schools, gyms, golf courses; others jobless or getting by, reliant on the support of the state, or ground down by 2/5

meaningless work and anxiety. Even if we didn't care about people suffering, on a pragmatic basis, if we want schools that work, if we want chidren not to be drawn into the manosphere or radicalised into terrorism, if we want work to be productive and satisfying, then we need to understand the 3/5

The more I think about it, the more I believe that Odysseus is Irish. 1. Went out with his pals and didn't come home for ages 2. Wouldn't take any advice 3. Absolutely loves songs about struggles 4. His name is O'dysseus, for Christ's sake!

🧵On @thenewsagents.co.uk yesterday, school closures and the lab leak theory were offered as two examples of legitimate questions that were hard to ask. Both have in fact been asked constantly since 2020. But here's a thread on why I think they were wrong and dangerous on school closures 1/12

I am so glad I got to see Bill, Tim and Graeme being interviewed by you in Bristol in 2019. It is sad that Bill Oddie has joined Tim Brooke-Taylor on the three-seater bicycle in the sky so soon.
