I worked at FAO Schwartz in SF for 2 months. The same song, over and over ("Welcome to our world, welcome to our world of toys..."). Doing the worst gift wrapping anyone's ever seen. It was humiliating, then they stopped paying people on time so I quit. It went out of business like a month later.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield went on a tirade against artists who “influence” listeners “with their bullshit” during a recent performance at the Las Vegas Sphere. tinyurl.com/r29cyh85

A man so desperate to use the bathroom at a Kroger supermarket in Texas intentionally crashed his 2006 Chevrolet HHR through the building’s front doors because the store was closed, the authorities said.

Muscular Christianity, starring a bunch of Ned Flanders looking dork asses who you'd never allow alone with your children.

Radley Balko@radleybalko.bsky.social

“Muscular Christianity” means that when when you’re glazing the serial predator president who deports refugee children, executes fishermen, and builds idols to himself, you TYPE REALLY HARD.

Trump: "The United States is working on a massive Deal with respect to the purchase of Potash from Belarus. The pricing would be for substantially less than we are currently paying to Canada, very good news for our Farmers and Ranchers. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

well, at least his quote is easy to read and he doesn't look at all like Beetlejuice

It's supposed to be an arts center, they have been removing actual artwork and replacing it with this propaganda kitsch. 2/2

casting an ancient and powerful spell to slow my opponent’s fist and then standing perfectly still for twenty-four hours so it still hits me in the nuts

my god, I've seen that "so happy to be sitting in the front seat of a car with the window rolled down" look before. They kept him alive by transplanting a golden retriever brain.

somebody posted a shitty Charlie Kirk memorial post on a work Slack channel that goes to 14,000+ people. And it's hilarious: three white/kind of yellow-skinned prayer emojis, and then dozens of thumbs down with every emoji skin color on the rainbow. We live in a society.

and now people are commenting with opposing, multi-bulleted AI-generated essays about how Charlie Kirk was good/bad. Treating a corporate Slack thread like it's Facebook. The future rules!

You’ve gotta use AI because it’s the future. But also it’ll take your job. But also it’ll create a paradise on earth and solve most of our problems. But also it’ll end humanity soon. But also you’ll get left behind if you don’t use it right now.

last week I got into a Lyft and at the same millisecond that I shut my door, the opening notes of 'American Idiot' began to play, like the driver had queued it up for me. I wasn't sure how offended I should have been, or what exact commentary this man was making.

if I wanted a weird little girl to vie for my attention and fuck up my desktop by being annoying, I'd hand my laptop to my four year old daughter.

my band put out an album in May 2020, and in support of it we were supposed to play 2 different shows at my favorite venue in SF, the Great American Music Hall—one supporting Bad Religion, another supporting Propagandhi. Then COVID destroyed all my dreams and I'm still not over it.

How about this? Best concerts that you ALMOST got to see but DIDN’T. Include reasons if you like: Rolling Stones (play rehearsal) Johnny Cash (I dallied) R.E.M. (play performance) Nirvana (canceled, college declined to pay requested $500 appearance fee)

very cool that looking at any website on your phone these days is a mix of Whack-A-Mole, links moving right before you can click them to make room for more ads, and just generalized mental torture.

Oh, and my favorite: the article keeps reloading with ads, which rips you from where you were in the page right back up to the top, over and over. Sick world we've engineered for ourselves!
