I'm enjoying the new Castlevania game, but to me so far it kinda feels like a worse Prince of Persia lol. I'm not one of those ppl that think this isn't a real Castlevania, but I feel like it it's a little derivative of other games. Ironic too given SoTN was the birth of Metroidvania lol.

46) Vib-Ribbon So fun! The art is extremely unique and the OST is AMAZINGGGGGG. I thought the gameplay was diff from other rhythm games I played esp when they started combining shapes and things got HECTIC. I also LOVED putting my own music in the game lol. I hope it gets ported to modern consoles!

45) Control Resonant -EASILY my fav game this year so far! I LOVED the story, the combat, traversing a trippy New York and I LOOOOVED Dylan as a protag! The side quests were also really fun. It was cool playing what had a ton of Metroidvania-like design in more open maps. Buildcrafting was fun too!

43) Marvel's Wolverine It's good. I actually liked the story more than most ppl I didn't LOVE the Jean stuff much, but I thought the villain was fun! I wish the combat was more dynamic and expressive. Felt like a PS3 game in a good and bad way lol. I do want to see where they take the story!

42) Metal Gear Solid -The last time I played this was 13 years ago and I loved it even more this time! Just amazing atmosphere, exquisite boss fights, great story! I think the controls could be more polished by today's standards, but still a great game! The final bosses were hard as butt!

41) Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy -Great! I loved that they branched off to having melee combat this time. I was also in LOVE w the Minotaur lore. Building up to the labyrinth is amazing, even if the minotaur design was disappointing imo. I want more Plague Tale please!!! Maybe Plague Tale 3!

40) Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories -I HATE this game lmfao. I am not a fan of deck builders, and I don't like how it's used here. The level design was REALLY repetitive imo. It looks GORGEOUS tho and has great music! The sprite work is GREAT! Story's cool too! Never touching this again lol.

39) Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix -AWESOME! I remember struggling a lot more on this game as a kid, but I deffo coasted this time around on Proud. I LOVE the ending fights and the story and esp ending is just phenomenal. Hated the camera and some of the more maze like levels, but its still great!

38) Emergency Call Ambulance -Great! Super grateful for the sole RGG dev that programmed an M3 emulator to use for the Yakuza series lol. The game is awesome! It's like Crazy Taxi, but you're meant to play cautiously lol. Not hard at all, but it felt like I was playing a bunch of setpieces!

37) Halo 3: ODST -Awesome! I didn't expect to love this as much as I did! I found the pacing a lot tighter than most Halo games and I LOVED the story and esp the way they told it. The ending missions in particular are really satisfying once everyone starts to converge. I also loved the characters!

36) Halo 3 -FINALLY got around to beating this! So fucking good! After the Flood enters the story, the whole game is just so phenomenal w/ some really hype moments! The music is also so heavenly as usual! I don't know if I like it MORE than Halo 2, but its super close!

35) X-Men (1992) -LOVED the art, but I found the gameplay awful lol. A little too simple for my liking. Hated that my powers were mapped to a diff button that I could only use w energy. Also this game is so overtuned. If I didn't have infinite creds, I would have gone broke!

34) Donkey Kong Bananza -Great! This is my second time beating the game. It's still great! I do think I like it less my second time through. I think the movement doesn't lend itself to having quite as good level design and the collectathon is a lil more repetitive because of it, but its still great!

33) Splatoon Raiders -PEAK! My fav Switch 2 game by far. I am such a sucker for ARPGs and this was genuinely an awesome first attempt at it. I think my biggest gripe is how once you get into the endgame, I feel like the build variety nosedives. Either way I want this formula iterated on!

Definitely think Splatoon Raiders is a GoTY contender for me lol. At the very least, it'll probs end up being my favorite non-remake Nintendo game this year by a landslide lol. Praying Nintendo continues this formula and improves on it in future entries.

32) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare -Awesome! The story is cool and there are some REALLY awesome levels! The gunplay also just feels as amazing as ever. I thought the blatant military propaganda was fucking hilarious too lol idk why they thought these Dick Cheney quotes would make him sound good.

31) Call of Duty: Black Ops -Surprisingly great! I thought the campaign was EXTREMELY well paced and the setpieces and variety in level design was awesome and kept me wanting to play more! The music was surprisingly awesome too some of the needledrops were cracking me up lol.

30) Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced -I LOVED the original game and this was just as good! Proved to me that they still had the sauce in terms of gameplay and parkour, which imo has been a LOT worse in the newer games. Some of the newer content wasn't as well written, but I still loved it!

29) Metroid Prime 4 Beyond -FINALLY got around to finishing hard mode! Given Prime's history w poorly implemented hard modes, I was shocked at how smooth it was. That final boss is BRUTAL tho lol. Honestly liked the game a lot more than my first run. Maybe sum time has passed and I care less lol.

28) Persona 4 Golden -Amazing! Has my fav cast of characters in maybe any game and the OST and small goen vibes is awesome! Like most Persona games, I feel like it kinda does overstay its welcome, but I still loved it! My only major gripe is some of those ending conditions are just atrocious lol.

I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.

My child loves going to the library and checking out a new video game every week. Going digital only eliminates libraries as a way people can access games.

27) Star Fox (Switch 2) -AMAZING! Even tho this was the third version of this game I played this year, this one is deffo my fav. I LOVE the cutscenes and the game is GORGEOUS and feels so smooth! I did three runs of this and just love it. REALLY hope Nintendo fucking makes a new game already!

Fucking bullshit. An industry where you can put out a well respected game and still get your studio shuttered is a deeply broken and corrupt industry. Remember back then tons of ppl were huffing BS abt Microsoft giving these devs financial stability such utter horseshit.

The way people cheer for and celebrate this corporation, not the developers, the brand itself, has really turned me off from some creators. The BDS list, the dangerous levels of consolidation, the mass layoffs, and people still treat it as their favourite sports team.

Sorry, maybe I shouldn't say this but ahahah. I am very angry. So I went to Xbox's Fan Fest event to attend a preview event. And it was the most flagrant display of wealth imaginable. Five stories filled with caterers and hundreds of smiling faces there to assure me of the brand's strength.

26) Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade -Amazing! This is my third run and I feel like I enjoy it a little more every time! This is the time I played it after beating Rebirth and it still holds up! I appreciate the more linear level design and tighter focus! The Switch 2 port is also mostly great!

I would love a return to exclusives for Xbox, but imo I think putting their first party games Day 1 on Games Pass is something they should seriously change. Releasing games to other platforms imo always felt like a way to compensate for the Games Pass loss in sales for certain games.

25) Batman: Arkham Knight -Really feel like they nailed the immersion and Batman fantasy. The world is very detailed and has so many layers to it and I LOVE the gameplay. Could obv do w less batmobile, but I didn't think it was bad at all. The story is fine lol. I want more games like this again!

Everything abt the snow area in Mina seriously blew me away. The setpieces, the mini boss fights, the platforming, the atmosphere and the AMAZING final boss in the area. To think I stumbled into this level completely accidentally lol. It rlly feels like I found my standout level.

I think my fav part abt Mina is it has that exploration/puzzle box that Link's Awakening (my fav Zelda) has, but with a LOT more progression and a LOT more content.

O ma god I got a trinket that HEAVILY reduces knockback when you get hit its actually so over for them

Mina is so great! But holy fuck man this game has hands like wtf Shovel Knight was not this hard 😭😭😭

This can’t be a logical way to run a gaming division, by being surface-level reactionary to your biggest fanboys and stuffing a lollipop in their mouths whenever they cry out.

I learned that if I'm scrolling youtube and I see a track from some random ass Sega arcade game from the 90s appear on my feed, I'm about to listen to the most raw shit imaginable.

24) 007 First Light -It's so peak I threw up! I LOOOOVED the story a LOT and combining Hitman-lite with Uncharted is GENIUS! I also LOVE the hand to hand combat and the shooting was fun too! Very improvisational and a TON of thinking on the fly! I need a sequel ASAP man!!!! Hope it sells well!!!

It's true 🤣 — as a writer I am constantly using artificial intelligence to level up my game! 🎮 It's the only thing to take my mind 🧠 away from my ex-wife 💍 and the fact that she took — the kids! 😿
