I'm reading Careless People, a memoir of Srah's time working on international policy at Facebook. It's fucked up! Give it a read. General request: start using Craigslist again so I don't have to use fb marketplace.

An update, of sorts. I flew to New Brunswick because it was discovered my dad had an aggressive brain cancer. He opted for maid and passed last night.

Brain cancer aside, we were very lucky. I can not thank Vitalité enough (Horizon can fuck off into the sun)

I'm learning how to crochet. My friend thought I'd be good at it out of the gate; no, no. The reason I'm good at anything is that I am very persistent and will fuck up 1 million times without breaking a sweat.

I've made & unmade a chain stitch from a strand of yarn about 40 times now and maybe 2 look passable. Stay tuned for some truly disgusting granny squares.

This is actually much better than it was a few days ago. Knowing is half the battle and the other half is consistent tension.

That face when you roommates cat demands attention but he's wet in one spot like WHAT DID YOU DO What dumb gross adventure did you just make me a part of *touches wet spot* *smells hand* I still have no idea but whatever happened shouldn't be possible

Hey I just read this guy's book "Did ye hear mammy died?" which I picked up because of this thread. It's a good read, 10/10, will pick up his new book as well. It is a VERY SAD and VERY FUNNY book, often with zero break in between. I will not recover from the first line in chapter 12.

For those who don't know this story, which I first shared six years ago today.... This one time I got my days wrong at work and ended up alone in a room with my boss and the President of Ireland while I was on ketamine. 🧵

Super important to me to vote "anyone but Sim" for our local election, I'm ready for that. But I really don't care to look into school board positions, I just want to pick members of parties that won't ban books. Is this good enough or is there more I need to care about?

I find the drama of the parks board endlessly entertaining, that is the one position I'd vote for Rollergirl. I promise I'm taking the Councillor vote seriously though.

I got this dumb walking tracker game! I think it's only one of 7 ds games that have an IR sensor in the cartridge (the other 6 being pokemon games) later, the 3ds had an ir sensor built into the console.

ALSO there is now a rom-cartridge that has ir support: handheld.deals/deal/dspico-ir this means you can play a rom of soul silver & be able to use the pokewalker. Those are....around $100 though. (I looked into it because I wanted to share my 2nd pedometer but it was missing from the box anyway)

I haven't seen any reviews of the cartridge yet, so this is not an endorsement. Just something to pay attention too if your into this stuff.

I wanted it because I like pedometers, and this isn't something you can play with a rom hack - you need the hardware too. I didn't know it existed until I saw the marketplace listing, and I was like, I think I want this?

Kind of mad about how much better the 3DS was compared to the switch. It's super cool to go back in time and spot the conventions I've gone too by the names of the mii's.

I'm obsessed with Animal Crossing New Leaf, and I like it a million times more than New Horizons. Better npc's, upgradable shops, less friction, no constant crafting basic tools. It's so chill, I have 140 hours on it already.

Akira is playing at the Rio 9:30 this Monday, I've seen it a few times but I might check it out.

Biggest take away from Beast Wars ep1: They scan local wildlife to take new forms > one robot says "I'm a cheetah" > they have no idea what planet they're on This implies there are enough planets with cheetahs on them for the location to be indeterminable. Many space cheetahs.

my training speaks for itself, pretty sure I could find Mitch McConnell just give me an atlas, an almanac, and the obituaries.

I was thinking today about the most valuable, most applicable lesson I learned in my entire legal admin course at VCC; in a letter writing course the teacher said never to use "just". Don't type out "I just wanted to...", have the balls to say "I wanted to..". Always delete just.

Today on a very special episode of Animorphs, the gang kills Hitler. (spoilers for Megamorphs #3: Elfangor’s Secret)

Plex wants to charge me a subscription fee so I can watch my own movies hosted on my own server, while they sell my data. As a society, we need to stop making software subscription services profitable because they are an offense to decency.

I want to watch movies on my tablet without having to constantly download & delete files on my tiny amount of memory. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to them.

I haven't cared about pokemon in a while, but Pokemon Bank is shutting down so it's now or never to move pokes from the 3ds upward. At the very least, I should move over all the starters & legendaries.

for anyone else on this path, use PKSM on a modded 3DS to clone your pokemon in-game (cartridge and digital both work) then move the clones to pokemon bank. then pay nintendo $4 for the paid version of Pokemon Home for a month (it's a subscription) so you can move them over.

I put PKSM on my 3DS, this lets me view & edit pokemon in any game - digital or cartridge. My shiny pidgey did in fact have an attack stat of 1. It was kind of funny watching him punch air in front of other pokemon but I buffed him all the way up to 31. So now he murders.

I got a battery for my old 3DS so I can check my activity logs, here are my pokemon hours played: White2: 272 Platinum: 55 Y: 671 Heart Gold: 65 X: 45 Omega Sapphire: 268 Sun: 142 Moon: 79

PKSM lets you do a lot of stuff, but at what point does it cheapen your experience playing? Everyone will have a different answer, I did buff some stats and put a few masterballs in my bag tho.

Well I guess airtable is dying. "In the age of AI, who needs programs like aritable?" I will simply learn LibraOfficeBase to manage my data rather than use AI.

Fun fact: I have $512 in referral credit at airtable because I made a spreadseet SO GOOD everyone signed to airtable to use it.

I have tried but I do not enjoy Jujutsu Kaisen Manga. Decided to read Dorohedoro instead and all my hp was restored.

I started Jk because my coworker told me she got a jk tattoo; "well it must be good then" Gege Akutami explaining why he doesn't draw women with large thighs anymore vs Noi, case closed.
