Excellent! If more Democrats use campaign money to actually help people, that might be even more effective than campaign ads.
Brilliant ad from Troy Jackson’s campaign. It sets politics aside and gives people resources and direction on heating their homes this winter, given the shortages caused by the war in Iran.
I think it should be a law that, if a president says something, paid government employees can’t be used to explain what he actually meant.
Trump can’t talk his way out of this one. He fumbled part of his most recent speech so badly that he ended up with the suggestion of Iran bombing U.S. cities. In typical fashion, the White House is saying you didn't hear clearly that which you obviously did. (link below)
Can the US Federal government extradite an American to a US state to face criminal charges? A way to get around a Trump pardon?
These two lawsuits brought by Renee Nicole Good’s family are exceptionally well-written and legally compelling. Well worth the read, I promise. I break down both complaints in this episode: youtu.be/2kU7_-Yt-Ig?...
I want Democrats to make it clear that, once we regain control of this government, any "third country" that persecuted or otherwise harmed any deportee that they accepted, that country will face penalties.
"The old system under which the 'third countries' had to provide guarantees that the deportees would be safe from persecution and abuse has been dismantled; all that’s required now is vague and meaningless 'assurances'." It gets worse.
Every Democrat candidate needs to talk more about the direct connection between corruption and affordability.
32. I hope the Democrats build on Amy Klobuchar's followup interview during which she said, in a slightly different context, that the American people are making the connection between corruption and affordability.
Fuck that! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Linda McMahon: "AI is definitely a tool used correctly. I've seen it in action. I have visited the Alpha School in Austin, Texas, where they use AI for the first two hours every single morning. The students have their headsets on, they are watching their computers ... it is incredibly effective"
@support.bsky.team whenever I click on a post in my feed, and then hit the back arrow to return to my feed, the app always jumps to the top of my feed, rather than just returning to my last scroll position. This is frustrating, and I constantly have to re-find where I left off. How can I fix this?
I’m sorry for your loss. But you can’t pretend you didn’t know who he is, and what he told you he was going to do.
Renee Good's mom: "I am a registered Republican. I voted for President Trump under the impression that these agents were here to protect citizens -- innocents like our family and the others here. Certainly not to accuse those of us here of being terrorists and take precious lives. This is madness."
I’ve finally figured out who Natalie Harp reminds me of: She’s Grima Wormtongue from Lord of the Rings! Whispering sweet nothings into the Mad King’s ear.
I knew Natalie Harp’s fingerprints had to be somewhere on this press ban. She usually feeds Trump flattering stories, so the minute she shows him the truth, the press gets banned.
I have an idea: If you make a demonstrably false statement, without immediate correction, you are banned from any program on that network for a month. I think that would be fair.
KARL: Do you support Trump banning news organizations because he doesn't like what they're reporting? SCALISE: Look, Biden removed the press credentials from 400 agencies KARL: That's not true. 400 reporters who had credentials didn't reapply. They weren't banned from the WH. That did not happen.
The Democrat's have plans for investigations after the midterms. One thing I am not hearing is any talk of an investigation into Congress itself. How Congress and the Supreme Court enabled an authoritarian regime by surrendering their checks and balances duty. @cnn.com
With two months until the midterm elections, Democrats are laying the groundwork to launch far-reaching investigations into the Trump administration and preparing for high-stakes court battles if they win control of the House of Representatives in November. https://cnn.it/4A5jRTD
The key phrase here is “damaged the agency’s ability to fulfill its mission”. We need a law that allows anyone to challenge whether a government action is in the best interest of the country. If the action can’t be supported, it must be overturned.
JUST IN: A federal judge concludes that DHS leaders arbitrarily decided to cut FEMA staff by 50% even though it damaged the agency's ability to fulfill its mission — and leaders hid their comms about it on auto-delete Signal chains. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
“Information integrity is the mother of all battles” is one of the most important statements I’ve heard in a long time. It should be a major part of the Democratic Party platform. @mariaressa.bsky.social
Nobel Peace Prize laureate @mariaressa.bsky.social shares thoughts at the 80th celebration of the UN: "Information integrity is the mother of all battles. Win this, and we can win the rest. Lose this, and we lose everything." Ressa urges us to fight to elevate facts, journalism, democracy.
Since it’s true, and has always been well known, why have we still not built a system to prevent it? Why can’t we design a system of government that, while not preventing a fascist from being elected, can still prevent fascist actions once in office?
it’s such a punch in the mouth that fascism achieved power by way of elections
If these public lands are sold or given to developers, we should reacquire them under imminent domain as soon as the next administration comes to power. And require the developers to restore the land to its original condition at their own expense.
HANDS OFF OUR PUBLIC LANDS! Chaco Canyon, Oak Flat, Yosemite, and 44 million acres of our national forests. Standing strong against this Administration’s land grab—in Congress, in the courts, and in our communities!
@cyndimunsonok.bsky.social Cyndi, if you became governor tomorrow, what actions would you take immediately to start improving the lives of all Oklahomans? I’d like to hear things that both Democrats and Republicans can get behind.
I think, for all political appointees, we should require a second “reconfirmation” vote 6 months after their confirmation. They shouldn’t be permanent until they have passed both.
Welker: "Do you still have confidence in Secretary Hegseth?" Sen. John Kennedy: "Um, well, it's not my place to have confidence in him." Welker: "Well, you're a senator."
