I've been predicting this will happen to the US after the midterms. The markets have been irrationally optimistic about Trumpism for the past couple years and are doing all they can to aid the GOP ahead of Election Day. Immediately afterwards they'll turn pessimistic.
It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

Pretty grim footnote to West's career that he ended up serving the richest man in the world's successful attempt to restore white nationalism to the US government.
NEW: The group behind Cornel West's 2024 ballot push was wholly funded through Elon Musk's dark money network, according to Sludge's review of tax documents. readsludge.com/2026/10/26/m...

Really worth remembering that the 2010 midterms are what really cemented Republican control for the past 16 years. 2026 has a shot of not just undoing that, but locking Republicans out of power for another decade
The amount of potential new trifectas that could be formed is a very underlooked story of this election. D’s have a very real chance to remake the political map for years to come with D’s favored or in play to create D trifectas in MN, WI, MI, PA, AZ, NV, and VT while Republicans likely won’t get

I've been too lazy to do so, but I want to make a graphic of the kind of players and organizational staff Elias was drafting and hiring back when he thought his Orioles were going to be the next great dynasty, and the people who he's bringing on now that his job's on the line.

It should be noted that we don't talk about fuel prices, or Iran in public. I haven't heard these words spoken outside of news coverage. In fact I think Americans are trying to ignore reality and go on acting like it's 2005 again. I even saw a 90s Hummer on Rt 100 the other day.
Kudos to NBC New York for saying it without equivocation: "The US is to blame for the world falling behind in the fight against climate change."
Though I’m a Sixers fan, I kinda wish LeBron landed with the Wizards. If Lebron can get under Trump’s skin from Philly, imagine the conniption fits Trump would have when LeBron dominated the news in DC. He’d practically be a shadow president
LeBron has repeatedly taken heat for his behavior during the national anthem before NBA games.

Skerrit is one of those Hollywood guys that seemed really under utilized by Hollywood. He was too much of a movie star for the gritty 70s, and not movie star enough for the 80s. I'm glad he got some really good roles in, but he was capable of more.
Skerrit, a prolific actor with dozens of screen credits, was also an Emmy winner for his lead role on the cult favorite series “Picket Fences.”

It'd be far better to present this data in a way that highlights the substantial fraction of professional athletes who aren't citizens and can't vote in the US. 👇 For NHL in particular, US-citizen players are a MINORITY, and may not be not politically or ideologically representative of the whole.

Not for nothing but PBS does election night coverage and we work really really really hard on it. Union shop as well!
