MICROTONE GETS CUSTOM FONT Here's the preview/proof sheet. The font will be available under SIL 1.1 And it will be one of the first fonts that support quarter-tone notation added in Unicode 18.

Some of you might have noticed the font on the pattern view has been changed. Yes, we're going to change the font by making our own! The current font is Chivo Mono, which is what the new font will be based on. Meanwhile, here's my quote for all of my supporters!

Microtone Changelogs! - Taud Motif Language: music now written declaratively. "Huygens' Clock" is its demo project. - OPL Instruments. Who needs more words? S3M and IT that had one are now supported. - 11, 13, 23, 26-TET joins the band - And various bugfixes

I think I like it already

Right now, when you visit microtone.cc with your phone, it shows a "Taud Player", which is basically a placeholder. It'd be great if I can make use of that touch screen for something...

Recent performance profiling suggests the UI is slower than the audio engine 😓 Currently working on the optimisation. Until the updates lands, if you are experiencing degraded performance, try closing master strip and instrument view on the timeline tab. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Open your projects in anywhere on the go! Microtone now has online projects. Sign in with SceneID and get 8 slots for the songs you're working on, and Ctrl+S saves straight back.

As a my side project of publishing Archive of IMS music (was popular in Korean BBS before the Internet), here's the new IMS composing program, runs on browser, uses Microtone in its core. In other words, IMS got a fancy new authoring tool *three decades* later!

If you are not interested in the archaeology, I can put it in more enticing way: You can compose OPL2 and OPL3 music that real DOS machines happily accept!

The thing you do on a weekend with a fucking obsolete music format: somehow source the ancient music composition software and dissect it like hell until Ghidra spits out sensible disassemblies, just because the existing format specifications are incomplete.

No more rely on external programs for mastering — because Microtone now has in-app mastering tool! This is not a preview, it's available right now!

Microtone is now officially registered copyrighted work 😎 The registration is done to fight against the future plagiarism-and-monetisation attempts and keep the original Microtone free for everyone.

1 : 11/9 : 3/2 is a perfectly valid chord the classical music theory denies its existence. In microtonal, we simply call it (undecimal) Neutral Triad, as it sits in the middle of Minor and Major. #microtonal

Did you know: Microtone features a demo song "When the heavens fall", re-imagined for a 3D audio, with a blessing from the Purple Motion himself!

You'll notice recent patch notes mention something called IMS and AdLib instrument BNK import. What's up? While trackers were format of the scene in the west, in Korea the IMS with AdLib was the scene's choice. As a part of the preserving those undocumented culture, I have created my own OPL engine

and IyagiMusic.js (iyagimusic.curioustorvald.com) The app features importing IMS into Microtone for remixing, and with the recent FM Rack support, I have built OPL-to-Taud translation layer as well as IMS2TAUD, and that's how Microtone has got IMS and AdLib BNK, to keep the old scene alive.

Microtone's built-in FM Synthesiser: MUCH powerful and better-shaped than some "famous" $99 FM Rack VST ever allowed you to do

The article has been removed. Turns out, ProTracker 1.1b (one I was referencing) already shipped the Invert Loop, and thus my observations were nothing but bullshit. Fortunately I have acquired the source code of ProTracker 1.0c, which DOES have Funk Repeat, and will shortly come up with a REAL one.

Microtone@microtone.cc

I have demystified the elusive Funk Repeat from the ProTracker 1.x: what it was and how it worked. ko-fi.com/post/The-elu...

Breaking news: I have acquired an explicit permission from one of the tracker legends to include one of their songs as a demo project for Microtone. Tune in for the next release 😎

Microtone Patch Notes! - More flexible Metainstrument creation — you can now have multiple copies of the same instruments - Full Metainstrument editor with chord stack creator - Duplicate an instrument — will create a copy of it without duplicating the samples

I have an idea of using `X aabb` command to pan the sound source spherically, like, aa for azimuth, bb for elevation? ...maybe later.
