One of the highlights of every fall is seeing the winners of annual photography contests. And this is one of the best.

Your printer hides a high-speed spectacle. A winning microscope photo freezes ink droplets in flight, revealing how letters take shape on a page. Take a closer look at this year’s Nikon Small World winners. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/nikon-small-world-contest-2026-photos

This was the roughest season of fantasy baseball I’ve ever had. Woven around a trip to LA, published author boot camp, an award show and a book release, signing events. But somehow, I still slipped through. The Evil Empire: undefeated since 2009.

If I may riff off an oft-repeated quote on writing: Being unpublished is hell. Having been published is hell. The only tolerable state is having something that will be published. Today, things are much more tolerable.

Earlier in the season I really felt like a successful thief for getting Dingler. I actually dropped him (I'm in a shallow league). Ran out of patience.

Dillon Dingler definitely belongs on this list. He looked like he might be an MVP candidate in July. Now? His underlying numbers are actually *worse* than last season's and he's been unplayable for the better part of two months. Not sure where he'll end up, but it won't be as a top-5 catcher for me.

Me: okay, time to log in to work. My computer: Update time! I know you scheduled this update for 4 AM and kept me on all night so it would happen, but I decided it would be funnier if I did it at 8:58. Don’t worry, though! This update will only take four hours!
