Worst pure anxiety day in recent memory. Rescue meds did not rescue. Physical symptoms as bad and intractable as I can ever recall. Not sure how bad the long-term effect of med failure will be on future anxiety-about-anxiety, but it ain't gonna be good. I feel very broken.

Everyone can stop saying "if we let them do xyz, that's the ballgame." We lost the ballgame about a hundred xyz's ago. Hopefully we can find a way to rebuild once this regime finally falls, but nothing that happens now will make that any more or less possible. Right now we just have to survive.

Relevant to the whitewashing of PKane's past. The stock response is "innocent until proven guilty" when everyone knows full well how few rapists get proven guilty in court. The system - including the Buffalo PD - was stacked so heavily in his favor that IUPG is a joke. Kane is not the victim here.

In Kane's case, police and even prosecutors sided with the accused right from the start. The people who were supposed to serve justice instead protected the local boy who rose to NHL stardom. They weren't interested in finding out if he was guilty or not, let alone is seeing him "proven guilty."

So yes, I believe he did it. Can I prove it? Of course not. Can you prove he didn't? Of course not. If you think the absence of formal charges proves him innocent, though, then you are part of the problem. And the problem is that men - especially famous and powerful men - rape with impunity. /end

This is a pattern that repeats again and again and again when prominent men abuse women. Sexual misconduct, up to and including rape, is so pervasive that it is basically viewed as an entitlement for famous men. Women are supposed to see it as the price of admission to society.

Victims/survivors are officially "accusers," and are themselves accused of lying in order to victimize their abusers. Fans contort the facts to fit a narrative in which the man was entrapped, misled or outright slandered. IUPG applies only to the rapist, never to his victim.

Time has passed and there were never any charges so everyone wants to just memory hole the entire thing, but the fact that no charges were brought is, in this case, part of the problem. The Buffalo PD protected Kane. The court smeared his victim. The Blackhawks acted like he was the wronged party.

PKane's Wikipedia page barely mentions the rape allegations. The new Athletic piece doesn't mention them at all. You'd think there wasn't a large swath of hockey fans for which that is the most significant thing about him. Or you'd think that most of that swath is dismissible bc we're women.

I want to let go. Not in a self-harm way, but in a 'stop holding it together and just let everything crash' way. Stop dealing with bills, appointments, social life, housework - all of it. Stop worrying about the future. Just stop coping altogether. And the way to do that is hospitalization.

lol my flight got diverted because of a medical emergency and they landed us in reykjavik in the middle of the night and deplaned us and sent us through passport control and then the crew vanished and then british airways sent us links to book an overnight hotel room but for a hotel at heathrow

The difference between Sarah and me is that Sarah will eventually escape Iceland. I might never emerge from the cycle of dentist -> endodontist -> endodontist -> dentist -> dentist. I guess at some point all my roots will have been canalled and there won't be anything left for the endodontist to do?
