All this #cheesecakefactory talk reminded me of one of the greatest one-liners on live TV from Marc Lamont Hill

Sky Sports is now doing a 1hr special with Horner. Obvious attempt from him to do some clean up job to come back to the sport (the rumor has been he has his eyes on Ferrari). Nasty, nasty work from everyone involved.
Christian Horner is a despicable person. He has no place in F1. If you choose to invite him to your show/podcast it says a lot about you (Naomi Shiff, why?) Also hope he goes no where near Ferrari, or any other team. Leave that man behind.
Carrick deserves better. 3 goals, all from player mistakes. You don’t mark the far player, you don’t clear a ball (and fall), keeper error. And on the last 2 multiple defenders don’t run with players they’re to mark. That’s not on Carrick. The players sealed his fate. They should feel embarrassed.

there’s no such thing as “strategic bigotry.” I know this because there is no amount of money you could pay me to become a bigot. the democrats who do this agree to do it because they’re bigots
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.
From a feel-good story of Obama endorsing him and appearing in his campaign ad a few months ago to this. Embarrassing and hateful.

Healthcare in poor countries. Growing up, Polio was common enough in Addis that I knew schoolmates who had it. And that was in a middle-class school in the capital. Now, they’ve almost eradicated it from the country. HIV was a death sentence then; now people live normal lives with it. Medicine ftw!
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
This is like putting a bandaid on a GSW. Man Utd change managers like it’s a seasonal mandate, but the core problem still exists. Rangnick had his flaws but he was right about one thing: the club needs an “open-heart surgery.” Glazers + INEOS out. Berrada + Wilcox out. Complete overhaul.
Emery and Nagelsmann are top targets if Manchester United sack Carrick
Econ of scale works when your fixed cost is relatively stable and you grow revenue fast. Cost of compute is not going down and everyone is forecasting capex the size of Kenya’s GDP. But hey…
Zuckerberg on Meta call on Muse costs: "Muse is very compute intensive to run, but we expect to improve its cost efficiency by more than 10x in the next year, which will enable it to be profitable once the revenue lines are at scale." Translation: This is costing us a bomb
The era of capex > multiples of FCF is here to stay until everyone wins or goes broke and starts liquidating office furniture in their campuses. The firm can stay irrational longer than you can stay sane, or whatever Johnny Keys said 😏
$META beat, raises capex *META 3Q EPS $3.83, EST. $3.57 *META 3Q REV. $64.60B, EST. $63.33B *META 3Q AD REV. $63.06B, EST. $61.85B *META SEES 4Q REV. $73B TO $76B, EST. $73.57B *META SEES FY CAPEX $135B TO $145B, SAW $130B TO $145B

I really wanted the fake S-1 time travel stuff to be so real, but no early Xmas presents for us 😏
Anthropic S-1 leaks from the WSJ - $16.3bn in 1H revenue (vs $1.1bn in 1H '25) - Nearly $9bn in compute spend - $450bn of future compute obligations (over next 7-10 years) - 1H net loss of $80.7bn (but only $8.7bn ex convertibles valuation changes - Very close to breakeven on an operating basis
Almost everyone in Seattle politics is explicitly anti-poor. Unapologetically anti-poor.
The first comment at today's public hearing and vote on Dan Strauss' plan to ban RVs in Seattle, restricting them to two-hour parking, is from someone who owns an RV he and his wife travel in. He wants an exemption for RVs parked on the street at the residence where they're registered.
Netflix’s problem is that it’s real competitors have an army of teens (TikTok, Reels) and creators(YT) making content for free (well, rev share) while it has to pay Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Fincher 9-figures upfront before it sees a dime back. It has a biz model disadvantage.
Netflix is reportedly cutting about 1,000 jobs, its biggest round of layoffs in years
I think we have to start scrutinizing who gets the “public intellectual” tag. Because…what?!

I worked with—and deeply admired—Helen for almost 30 years. She was hands down *the best source* about emerging infectious diseases that I've ever known. My first warning of COVID was when on Dec 28, 2019 she reposted a ProMED mail report of an atypical pneumonia cluster: "This doesn't look good."

I assumed the response to the Omar harassment was muted because there's an assumption that she'll win in the end. But @sophiatesfaye.bsky.social is probably right that the press has been cowed by right-wing conspiracists into thinking they may have something. www.salon.com/2026/10/17/t...
Summer of freshman yr in undergrad I went in for a “sales and marketing interview” that turned into an instant job offer. It was”Vector Marketing”, basically an MLM to sell Cutco knives. I quickly realized it was an MLM. Sold my sample knives to my mom’s boss at a $150 profit and quit the same day.
