👉If you're shopping for a Chromebook, check how many years of ChromeOS updates it has left 🗓 👉This 'cheat sheet' may help as a reference point

The offer to claim all the extra accessories and warranty etc from Acer UK when you purchase the Acer Googlebook 14 will end on 30th November. See the latest video on the MergeDroid YouTube channel for how to pay 15% less + an option to send back after 100 days for a full refund.

You can register your interest with Acer UK to get notified when their Acer Googlebook 14 is available to buy: uk-offers.acer.com/googlebook/ They'll be bundling some goodies too....and even planting trees! Check my latest video for a look at all 5 Googlebook launch models!

Time to update your Chromebook, ChromeOS 156 has arrived 🎆https://buymeacoffee.com/mergedroid/chromeos-156-arrived

If you plan to buy the XPS Googlebook from Dell in the UK and have an Amex card, do check for the £100 cashback offer first 💸

If you have access to sites like Lebara Rewards you can also generate a code for 4% off at checkout that would stack with the Amex offer too.

Fair play to whoever has been buying the 32GB RAM model of the HP Googlebook 14 🤑😎 At just under £1,500 I wasn't expecting this one to go out of stock at Currys so soon! (That said, we have no idea how many were in stock to start with). The 16GB RAM model is still available.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 version of the Acer Googlebook 14 is in stock on the Acer Store UK. They also have the Core Ultra 5 model, but currently out of stock like Currys (just available right now at EE in the UK). If you have TOTUM, Perks at Work etc, check for a 15% discount!!

Googlebook stock has arrived online at EE In the UK, as we expected they have the Acer, ASUS, HP + Lenovo (still no XPS in the UK). The usual oddities in the initial listings, but good to see stock available to order online, especially for the Acer as Currys are out of stock.

Is the XPS Googlebook from Dell missing in this shot telling us something more about its likely availability in the UK? buymeacoffee.com/mergedroid/i...

Currys in the UK now lists two options of the Lenovo Googlebook 15 for pre-order, with stock available to deliver on release day, 6th October. Lenovo's own website still shows stock expected in December as I've shared previously. Who isn't paying the extra £50 for 512GB though?

I'm not sure why all the Curry's Googlebook listings state release day as the 6th of October though, it's meant to be the 5th of October in the UK (and Ireland, France, Germany, Canada and Australia) and 4th October in the US.

The Acer Googlebook 14 is back in stock to pre-order at Currys in the UK.

Naturally as soon as I published my video......the Acer Googlebook 14 pre-order is now showing as out of stock at Currys in the UK.

These images from Lenovo confirm that the Lenovo Googlebook 15 does have a fan and by the looks of it ventilation behind the hinge area in the top left. Still nice that there's no ventilation on the bottom of the Googlebook.

The ASUS Googlebook 14 is available in the UK to pre-order at Currys (see my video from yesterday) AND now also from ASUS own website via their own distributor (FiveTech Ltd). ETA showing "Early October".

Following my video on UK Googlebook pre-orders on the Acer, HP and ASUS yesterday, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 is available to pre-order direct. Still no options via Google. 📅Let's hope the December delivery date improves! 💸Seems a no brainer to pay £50 more for 512GB

UK "from" pricing confirmed. All 16GB/512GB Acer Googlebook 14 £999 (Intel Core Ultra 5) ASUS Googlebook 14 £1,199 (Intel Core Ultra 7) HP Googlebook 14 £1,199 (Snapdragon X Elite) XPS Googlebook £1,099 (Snapdragon X Elite) Lenovo Googlebook 15 £1,099 (Intel Core Ultra 5)

Significant reduction on the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 (MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910) at Currys. You can find both versions with YouTube product links on my unboxing or review video: - youtu.be/YZFtMJc6YJU Note, the version I show had 256GB storage rather than the 128GB in these models.

Yet again the coordinated promotional commenting on my Chromebook videos featuring MediaTek processors is back. I understand this is called astroturfing. What they're saying is largely right, but the way it comes across cheapens things + looks inauthentic. It's not the way to market or promote.

Must be that time again for the generic sounding MediaTek comments to be posted to my videos.....

Time to update your Chromebook, ChromeOS 152 is here 🎉 As usual of late, you're unlikely to find changes beyond the browser update. Admins may be interested to know the Google Certificate Authority Connector is now supported in ChromeOS (previously it was only supported on Windows, Mac, + Linux).

I really hope no one pays £20 more to NOT get the charger in the box 🤦‍♂️ The "no charger in the box" situation for most newly manufactured UK laptops/Chromebooks is resulting in situations like this (not just at Currys). Thanks to the EU Common Charger Law, well intended but poorly executed?

One of the problems caused by no longer getting a charger in the box with new Chromebooks and most laptops in the UK and Europe.... Sellers recommending a charger that's too lower wattage for the laptop you're buying 💻🔌

This Lenovo Chromebook m 14 is £210.40 at Very with code "COMPUTING20". Item 1601318862 It's the cheapest I've seen a new 2026 Chromebook with the MediaTek Kompanio 540 processor and 8GB of RAM in the UK.

Nice to see a further discount on the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910 powered Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514. Keep in mind this is the 128GB storage option at Currys, but otherwise the rest of the excellent spec matches what I've shown you on the channel in my unboxing and review videos.

THANK YOU ALL for helping the channel reach 12,000 subscribers on YouTube 🎉 It really does mean a lot 🙏 If you want to check out my new channel for any non-Chromebook tech, please take a look over at @extradroid.bsky.social here and on YouTube👍

As we enter August 2026 we hit the end of the road for anyone who opted in for extended ChromeOS updates for their Acer Chromebook R13 (CB5-312T). Released late 2016 with a MediaTek MT8173C processor and aluminium body, this 2-in-1 champ carried ChromeOS through the early Android app era 🫡

The new 2026 Lenovo Chromebook Plus i 15 (15ITN10) is now available in the UK. Argos are the first retailer in the UK to stock it, and their initial price looks pretty wild to me.

It's got a large 15.3" 16 x 10 aspect ratio display (non-touch), up to 400 nits of brightness. Powered by the 2025 Intel Core 3 N355 processor with 8GB of soldered RAM and 128GB of Universal Flash Storage 2.2. Sadly no backlit keyboard, but you'll get a number-pad.

It'll be interesting to see how the price adjusts as more retailers start to stock this model and we inevitably see sale pricing in time.

Pretty cool how ChromeOS gives you a warning if you attach a different physical keyboard to your detachable Chromebook ⚠ This was on the ASUS Chromebook CM32 Detachable - review video now live on the channel if you haven't seen.
