Now that the US is no longer a reliable partner, it's essential that the Freya ant-ballistic missile system enters service as quickly as possible. Ukraine, even in wartime, has delivered its part of the work. Can Kyiv's partner nations keep up though?

Stop asking Zelensky this question. He agreed to this back in March 2025. Putin keeps rejecting the freeze

Anton Gerashchenko@antongerashchenko.bsky.social

[Q]: Would you accept a peace deal that freezes everything the way it is right now, where you still keep 75% or more of your country? [President Zelenskyy]: Yes, right now we have to freeze and I think this is a real way to end this war.

It's more than symbolic. It's so that when Ukraine attacks Russian refineries, Trump can claim they are directly attacking US fuel supplies. Trump will use this to justify more withdrawal of support to Ukraine, push them to surrender and to further blame them for the cost of US fuel at the pump.

Trump views Ukraine as Russia's Canada. Because Trump does not believe Canada has sovereignty and the right to be independent from The United States, Trump will always take Russia's side. Great video from Anders Puck Nielsen. @anderspucknielsen.dk

Trump's complaints about Zelensky/Ukraine and his insistence that he wants peace make sense with reality ONLY if we accept that he defines "peace" the exact same way Putin does-- as Ukrainian capitulation to Russian control.

I have no doubt that a bunch of Zelensky's epic responses are going into the history books and this one might make the cut. Still, I wish Western journalists didn’t use him as a foil to express their criticism of Trump. Speak bravely to Trump, ask HIM this same question.

Is Trump is using you as a scapegoat for his own problem? Zelensky: [Smiles] "This is my answer."

Every move Trump has made in the last few days is purely anti-Ukrainian. It's not a negotiation and it has nothing to do with energy prices, with a peace process, or with Zelensky's attitude.

🇺🇸🇺🇦🚀 Zelensky: Can you give me missiles for Patriot? Because when I don't attack them, because you asked me, they will attack me. It's fair if you give me something with which to defend myself. That's the minimum I'm asking for. And when I'm asking this, your answer is blocking Starlink.

It was clear from the start what this Trump administration's positions on Ukraine and on Russia were going to be. Many people in Europe didn't accept that - because they wanted it to be otherwise, or because they were persuaded by Europe-whisperers like Lindsey Graham that it would all be okay.

A couple of days after the 2024 US elections I posted a thread on Twitter on what a Trump administration policy on Ukraine and Russia was likely to be. What they're doing now is appalling, but it shouldn't be a surprise.

Obviously, Ukraine won’t surrender preemptively and its defense won’t collapse quickly but the damage will be significant and then the crucial questions become whether Trump can keep up this blackmail for long and what could make him back off.

If reports of an end to intelligence sharing and Starlink access limits are confirmed, then the Trump admin has started helping Russia’s war effort. This a more harmful act against Ukraine than all the silly Witkoff/Kushner plans/trips put together. The US is trying to force Ukraine to surrender.

What I mean is we’re focused on trying to understand the sequence of events (who did he talk to and when) and divine motivations (“soften” Ru, reduce diesel price, look successful in getting deals) when all that matters is that the US is helping Russia and harming Ukraine. This is the big story!

Jumpingaround reposted

The details about how and why the diesel deal and the supposed ceasefire came about are a distraction from the obvious— Trump again squeezes Ukraine to try to help Russia. Just as russia prepares to widen its war in Europe because the campaign in Ukr is stalled, he tries to give them a boost.

Many people have a wrong idea about what US intelligence sharing with Ukraine is. In reality it's largely early warnings about air strikes so Ukrainians can seek shelter. This requires US satellites. But it looks like Trump might have instructed his military to stop giving Ukrainians that warning.

For the second evening in a row, Zelensky says Ukraine received no warning from Western partners before Russia launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv. Tuesday’s strike hit a key energy facility and damaged a residential building, he said. meduza.io/en/news/2026...

People keep coming back to the question of why (understandably), but it's irrelevant. Whatever the reason, Trump is absolutely immovable on his support for Putin and his desire to "get along" with Russia. It's been that way before his first term in office. It's not going to change.

This isn’t surprising. Trump is anti-Ukraine and he has always hated Zelensky. But he has been constrained by something (public opinion? GOP behind the scenes? Bureaucracy?) from fully throwing US power behind Putin. Can this change now? Tbh, I don’t know. What I do know is that…
