Built with #springboot ;) For #tractor and other equipment tacking for farm operations. :) Working well - mobile apps in beta testing, should be released VERY soon!! Come take a look at mcintosh.farm!
Mostly accurate. I still find areas or it misses complicated large context integration issues but per target it’s very very good.
This is true. Fable 5 and now Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1 reliably write code that’s as good as if not better than I would have written myself. And they do it 100 times faster. They’re not making “slop” or tech debt. They’re creating high quality tested, maintainable software that works.
Android app in "internal testing" :) I think the app is coming along well. Anyone need to track #tractor hours, #equipment maintenance or #farm equipment? All backed on mcintosh.farm - using it for my own equipment now
mcintosh.farm - new app is up (web based until I get the app store stuff done) for those #farming and needing to track equipment operations. Using it myself already - and why I wrote it ;) #java and #springboot based development, thymeleaf made it EASY to build this. And SECURE.
scratch.mit.edu/projects/edi... Seriously AWESOME site - got the kids engaged last night and it was awesome watching them do stuff ;)
Trialing @truenas.bsky.social CSI driver. RIGHT NOW... I'm VERY impressed. iSCSI working well and destroys rook ceph on performance! Other tidbits? Claude helped set all of this up and did WELL doing so. SO kudos to BOTH. Good smoke tests, perf tests, etc.! Updating lab repo now!
I'm working on updating my lab monitoring - I'm moving almost everything to @clickhouse.com for storage. UI is annoying though. HyperDX isn't quite as functional as Grafana, and NEITHER give "click on this to drill in" (IMHO go try @honeycomb.io or NewRelic or similar). STILL prefer those!
There's a quote here from @charity.wtf that I think is KEY. "AI is not magic, it is technology". aboard.com/podcast/char... .. To me - SAME THING ON SPRING BOOT, Clickhouse, etc.! This stuff is NOT magic. There's too much "magic" commentary in the tech world dang it!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmMN... NICE video on pocket hole wood working stuff ;) For wood workers out there - been VERY impressed with workshopcompanion.com stuff
ONE thing I've noticed - AI does rather well at handling my typos. I have at endency to do what I just did - try to go to fast and make spaces after the character I'd intended. AI seems to handle and adjust to this rather well (or at least..... @claudecode.bsky.social handles this). Nice!
GOTTA love @charity.wtf :) charity.wtf/p/confession... great post like she always does - NO AI slop included! :) (AI slop is good for docs, code, and artifacts... not for stories ... unless you want videos of hampsters taking on storm troopers... hrmmm)
Nice update comparing #rabbitmq to #kafka www.rabbitmq.com/docs/compare... - though I haven't been in this space in a LONG while... I have a STRONG like of rabbitmq still :) The guys on that team were amazing back when I did a lot of rabbitmq work.
If anyone wants to ever buy me anything, I"m a size Pro XG Switch (store.ui.com/us/en/catego...) and a Dell 740xd (used is fine) rackmount server ;) My lab is just ITCHING for some upgrades... :P
For those looking at git alternatives to github (to be fair it's up... mostly ... 99%? of the time). There's harness.io (disclosure I work for them, OSS: github.com/harness/harness), gitlab.com, about.gitea.com and other solutions (I like self-hosting). Re-evaluate regularly all of them!
joe.dev/posts/new-20... Love this from @h.olysh.it - this is the conversation about ai I’m having now with upper level engineers. Not the technical impacts but what are the cultural impacts. Who benefits is a big question in that.
Critical #Spinnaker Vulns Allow RCE And Production Compromise zeropath.com/blog/spinnak... - so patch please! This was... nasty!
