This $5 billion investment will bring 650 permanent jobs and 1,800 construction jobs to our region, strengthen Virginia's growing life sciences industry, and help produce medicines that improve and save lives. It's an exciting day for Goochland County and our entire region.

Thank you to Eli Lilly for choosing Virginia. I look forward to welcoming you to the community and being a good partner and neighbor for years to come.

I spoke with @tomperriello.bsky.social this morning about the growing threat of hyperscale data centers in Goochland and across Virginia. Tom stands with local communities, demanding transparency and accountability. We need leaders who will put people before powerful interests. Vote Tom Perriello.

I spoke with WRIC about my letter urging the Goochland Board of Supervisors to deny Tract's proposal to develop a 900-megawatt data center adjacent to established residential neighborhoods, a project that has generated concern among residents. See my interview here: www.wric.com/news/local-n...

wric.comLocal delegate encourages Goochland Board of Supervisors to deny data center proposalRepresenting parts of Henrico and Goochland counties, Del. May Nivar (D-57th District) is urging the Goochland Board of Supervisors to deny a near 900-acre data center campus called “Tuckahoe…

Their concerns should not be ignored. The decision that will eventually come before the Board will shape not only their communities, but the future of our region. I urge the Board to listen to residents and give their concerns the consideration they deserve as they review this proposal.

The impacts of a project like this don’t stop at county lines. Residents have raised serious concerns about the effects on their neighborhoods, infrastructure, and quality of life. I’ve urged the Goochland Board of Supervisors to deny Tract’s proposal and encourage them to listen to the residents.

“Henrico should not remain silent when a neighboring jurisdiction’s development decisions may affect thousands of our households and the schools our children attend,” a resident told the Henrico Board of Supervisors Tuesday. www.henricocitizen.c...

Today, I sent a letter to the Goochland County Board of Supervisors urging them to deny Tract's request to build a 900-megawatt data center in eastern Goochland. The Board's decision will have lasting implications for Goochland County and the surrounding region. Read my full letter to the Board:

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the histories, cultures, and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples whose communities continue to enrich Virginia and our nation.

At yesterday's historic 250th anniversary commemoration of the General Assembly, I reflected on Virginia's past and future. As the daughter of immigrants, I couldn't help but think about how different that room looked 250 years ago. Grateful to serve and help shape Virginia's next chapter.

I’m encouraged that Henrico and Goochland have each decided to move away from Flock cameras after hearing residents’ concerns about privacy and accountability. Public safety and privacy are not competing values. Law enforcement needs effective tools, but those tools must be used responsibly.

Henrico County Government@henricogovernment.bsky.social

The Henrico County Police Division is terminating its contract with Flock Safety due to privacy concerns about the company’s system of automatic license plate reader (ALPR) cameras. https://henrico.gov/news/2026/10/henrico-police-to-eliminate-flock-cameras/

As the General Assembly revisits this issue next session, we must work toward the right balance between public safety, privacy, accountability, and the authority of local communities to make decisions that reflect their residents’ values.

What I love about this achievement is that it's not just about economic growth. It's about helping Virginians build skills, access opportunity, and succeed in good-paying careers.

Families deserve transparency in health care. In my latest op-ed, I discuss HB 1115, a new law taking effect in 2027 that will require upfront cost disclosures for scheduled non-emergency medical transportation, helping protect Virginians from surprise bills.

A Virginia mother’s unexpected $2,200 ambulance bill helped inspire HB 1115, a new law requiring upfront disclosure of costs for scheduled non-emergency medical transportation, writes Del. May Nivar.

Great to welcome the Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association to the 57th District for their Annual Fall Meeting and learn about their upcoming legislative priorities. Dental hygiene is healthcare, and dental hygienists play a vital role in improving health outcomes across Virginia.

Honored to speak at yesterday's Governor's Advisory Board Summit. As a former member/chair of one of the boards, it was meaningful to reflect on how board service shaped my path to elected office and my work in the General Assembly. Most importantly, I spoke about the power of partnership.

We may represent different communities, but we're often strongest when we work together. Appreciated Governor Spanberger and many cabinet members joining the summit and affirming the important role these boards play in community-informed policymaking.

I joined Delegates Rodney Willett, Leslie Mehta & Rae Cousins for a conversation w/physicians & staff from the VA Physicians for Women and Medical Society of VA about maternal health, workforce challenges, and the potential impacts of medical liability policies on physicians and patient care.

It was valuable to hear directly from those providing care in our communities and to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing obstetric care in Virginia.

James has dedicated his career to serving Virginia, and in Congress he has continued standing up for our federal workforce and fighting for the issues that matter most to families across the Commonwealth.

I joined the James River Association to learn more about the return of Atlantic sturgeon to the James and the work that has helped bring this endangered species back. During our tour, we spotted several sturgeon leaping from the river near the Chesterfield power station.

Aging infrastructure and water withdrawals can put added pressure on water quality and the habitat sturgeon depend on. If we want to protect the progress we have made, we have to keep investing in the infrastructure that keeps our rivers and communities healthy.

It was wonderful to join convenience store owners, operators, and industry leaders from across Virginia once again for the Mid-Atlantic C-Store Expo hosted by the Virginia Asian American Store Owners Association.

Convenience stores are a part of daily life for so many Virginians, providing essential services, creating jobs, and supporting local economies throughout the Commonwealth. Thank you to VAASOA for another successful event and for bringing together businesses that help keep Virginia moving.

Hearing directly from the community about the proposed Dominion–NextEra merger and rising energy costs is exactly why @ltgovhashmi.bsky.social took the Energy Costs Listening Tour across the Commonwealth. I was proud to join her in Richmond and hear directly from Virginians about their concerns.

As I continue listening to residents, advocates, regulators, utilities, and energy experts, my standard remains simple: decisions involving an essential public service should make life better for Virginia families and businesses.

Based on what I have seen and heard, I do not support this merger. Those seeking approval have the burden of demonstrating clear benefits for Virginians, and serious questions remain about affordability, accountability, reliability, and whether Virginia communities will truly come first.

Exploring Virginia's energy landscape means learning from every part of the system. Recently, I joined Delegate Irene Shin and members of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative for a tour of Clover Power Station, which is jointly owned by Dominion Energy and Old Dominion Electric Cooperative.

Each stop along my journey to better understand Virginia's energy landscape offers a different perspective on the systems that power our homes, schools, businesses, and hospitals.

My thanks to the ODEC staff for their time, expertise, and candid discussion throughout the tour. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from the people who work every day to keep Virginia's energy infrastructure running.

Opportunity to see the facility firsthand and learn more about energy generation and grid reliability, the ODEC team provided a look at the plant's operations, including the technologies, practices used to reduce emissions and environmental impacts while maintaining reliable power generation.

Wishing all who observe Yom Kippur a meaningful and peaceful day. As Jewish families and communities gather for prayer, reflection, and repentance, may this sacred time bring renewal, healing, and hope for the year ahead.

Grateful to attend McShin Foundation's 22nd Annual Recovery Fest & stand alongside a community that believes in second chances, healing, & hope. Recovery changes lives, strengthens families, & reminds us of what is possible when people have the support they need. Thx McShin staff for the great work.
