The truest thing JD Vance has said in a long, long time.

The powerful executives who cozied up to Trump didn't oops accidentally forget about pendulum swings. They either: 1) Like the fascism 2) Calculated it was here to stay, so going along was savvy 3) Saw no real downside, no consequences when the pendulum swung Crucial to show them 3 was a mistake

That this is in THE WASHINGTON POST is almost too much irony to bear.

The crowd has the energy of those tapes from Jonestown

Now, we all know, if they could, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, et al. would simply never stoop so low and find another Texan named “James Talarico” to run as a Democrat. That would be unethical. That would be unfair. After all, if you win by betraying your core values — have you really won at all?

By Christmas, they’re gonna have netting installed around the roof and upper windows at Main Justice like those Foxconn plants.

By all means — please keep talking.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Trump says he ordered the Justice Department lawsuit over Alaska's US Senate race: 'I'm the one that said do it.'

“Ratfuckery for me, but not for thee.” Announcing this in advance should definitely help keep Peltola’s margin small enough.

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

The Trump administration is preemptively suing to block Alaska from certifying a Mary Peltola victory, should she win. Their argument is that the double Dan Sullivan thing is confusing voters. www.reuters.com/world/trump-...

Their internal polls must be fantastic…

Breaking news: The Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska’s Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses his tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola next month.

The humanitarian Putin bombed more civilians today. Maybe Witkoff should spend a couple weeks in Kyiv to see first hand how much of a humanitarian his friend in Moscow is.

The thing is I worry that that this poll suffers from selection bias because it excluded the 95% of respondents who likely said, “you can fuck all the way off with this bullshit question.”

I want my House speaker setting the groundwork for this traitorous crook to die in prison—utterly broken, penniless, and recognized as the shitstain on American history that he is—not meeting with him to talk about bipartisan legislation.

Every day, the magnitude of Merrick Garland’s failure to fulfill what was the singular, defining mission of his life becomes more apparent. The most decent thing he could do now is move to a cave on some Greek island, put out his eyes, and spend the rest of his days in quiet reflection.

The last thing a Big Mac sees at 3am before being washed down with a fistful of Adderall. Terrifying way to go.

I have been praying for this kind of pushback from Democrats against Elon Musk for a long time now and I am thrilled that the Talarico camp is leaning into it. Light. Him. Up.

Team Talarico@teamtalaricohq.bsky.social

NEW AD: Have you seen these anti-Talarico attack ads? Elon Musk paid for nearly all of them. The world's first trillionaire knows if he drags the most corrupt politician in Texas across the finish line, Ken Paxton will owe him everything. Elon Musk: Texas is not for sale.

It shouldn't, for sure. But is it? Are European governments at this moment falling to fascism and authoritarians due to the dumb decision a handful of Wisconsin and Michigan voters made two years ago? Doesn't seem like it from over here. If AfD or Reform sweep the next elections, will that be why?

"A few MAGA voters in the Midwest can force Orbánism into becoming Europe's standard governing model through sheer force of will" was literally JD Vance's theory of the case. Are we saying that chud's correct? I don't think so. I think he's a spineless clown who can't do a damn thing about Europe.

I say this with love in my heart: you give these morons far more credit than they've ever once in their lives deserved or proved through the success of their endless, hollow threats and hectoring — which, as we know, they have not.

In 11 days, when millions of Americans elect pro-Ukraine, pro-NATO, pro-trade, pro-science, pro-equality senators in Texas, Alaska, Ohio, Michigan, and Maine—and maybe come within a rounding error in Kansas and Iowa—can we hold the bagpipes for the liberal world order for just a second, please?

Will a lidless, flaming eye atop Trump Tower then explode and the whole building crumble into dust and a great chasm open to swallow legions of fascist goons and Russia's useful idiots? No, sadly, but it'll be progress nonetheless. And I think we'll deserve some credit for it over here.

Sorry, but “Americans no longer like NATO” continues to be an objectively false statement. Americans—not the pieces of shit temporarily in charge of us, who are about to get their asses epically whipped—continue to favor herpes higher than Putin’s Russia. tinyurl.com/3cftdyy3 tinyurl.com/54bw8v7v

If Americans no longer like NATO, so be it. If they don't like where Europe is going, so be it. You do you, we'll do our own thing. If we can cooperate, great. If you want to argue, okay. Give it a few more years and as we become more independent, we'll treat you like everyone else

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the commentary in Europe that portrays all 300+ million of us as clones of Steve Witkoff, happily wiping our chin at Putin’s bedside, is Trumpian in its persistent denial of the complicated truth in favor of a narrative.

It could not be more unhelpful to those of us who are working to unfuck things here. And if Le Pen, Farage, and AfD ever run roughshod over there, I promise Americans like me won’t be doing this gloomful lament for our friendship. We’ll be telling you to get back up and beat them.

Are we unanimous in our support for NATO and Ukraine? No, sorry. Wish we were. We’re big and complicated and some of us huff Russian propaganda for sport. Plenty of Europeans are no different. But please stop saying “Americans” when you really mean the ever-dwindling MAGA minority.

100%. On the viability of his business empire, fortune, and perhaps personal freedom in a post-Trump era, since 2025, Elon’s fucked around to an increasingly existential level. Anyone expecting him to be a good-faith, cooperative actor in that world is delusional. He does not wish to find out.

And, no, I’m not suggesting the answer’s to give him an off-ramp or any reason to doubt his worst nightmares of what doom and ruin awaits him come January 2029. I think it ought to be Team Democracy’s mission to see that every bit of it and more comes true. Make him the last of his wretched kind.

And after that, with all haste, I want command and control of his satellites seized by DoD, I want his citizenship revoked, and I want him flown on that (also-seized) bootleg Qatari “Air Force One” straight to The Hague with a big ribbon slapped on his head.

I came to realize that when people say they want "realism" in mil/spy thrillers they have no actual way to know what is or isn't realistic. When they say realistic, what they really mean is something that kinda reads like every other fictional work in the genre that they are familiar with.

William B. Fuckley@opinionhaver.bsky.social

One thing that is weird about current examples of the genre is this attention to ~tactical realism~ in like the exact guns or jargon used but the central motivating conflict is either ‘evil PMC that might as well be cobra commander’ or ‘mumble mumble hand wave’

ICE agents in DC waiting for some five-year-old to walk to school

A new report on truancy in D.C. says that some Latino students are truant because the increased presence of ICE, other federal agents, and National Guard had "negative impact on their families." One kid said he was "genuinely afraid to step outside" after his dad was deported.

Oh, my god! Enough with this "Good tsar, bad boyars" bullshit. The president is not a toddler whose oblivious babysitter let stumble into the pool. Who hired those advisers? Who’s given them every idiotic, self-defeating order?

This dismay, of course, expressed by the senator who makes statement after statement railing against Hegseth’s destruction of the Pentagon without devoting a single syllable acknowledging that he’s the sole reason that psychotic ghoul even has the job.

I tire of policy commentary from people who seem to have been comatose since 2016. "President Romney should resurrect Reagan's nuclear diplomacy" would've been a worthwhile op-ed. This POTUS thinks no deeper than, "Big scary bombs make me look tough." Do you not know who you're writing about here?

thebulletin.orgPresident Trump wants a historic legacy. He should start by resurrecting Reagan's nuclear diplomacyTo secure a historic legacy, President Trump should channel Ronald Reagan's Reykjavik diplomacy to stabilize relations with Russia and China, curb nuclear arms risks, and prevent a catastrophe.

Here, let me visualize the disconnect that prevents us from having nice things like new nonproliferation agreements. At this point, there's no excuse for being unaware of it.

1. We’re all trying to find the guy who did this… 2. If that happens, the very worst person Israel could have managing that relationship is probably Bibi Netanyahu.
