Today I learned that -Confirm on a PowerShell script using a "Should Process" isn't saying "I confirm, do the thing" (like -Force) it's actually saying "I want to confirm first".

My Bluesky discover feed is getting a lot more US politics than I'd like. I don't live in the US so all the internal politics is irrelevant to me and yet it's dominating my feed.

I had to encourage this house spider from between the two parts of my sofa yesterday. Quick and clever guy was evicted to the back of the garden. Hopefully, that's the last of them this year but I feel like there'll be one more.....

The car lease is up and was collected today. I'm going to try going carless for a bit! Going to have to get a lot more comfortable cycling.

Completed my first #parkrun after leaving it for years! Happy with my pace and I'm well chuffed to get my 10k steps away before midday! I'll be back next week πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

"This endpoint must not be called on the client, is it?" "Claude Code says that it's sever-only." Yeah, but I'm not asking Claude Code, am I, I'm asking you. Can we tell the difference anymore?

I just had to fix my WireGuard VPN on my mobile by reinstalling the app. Nothing obviously wrong during troubleshooting. I wonder what happened there?

New blog post tomorrow, assuming refreshed morning eyes don't spot anything wrong. It's been a hot minute since I've written a post! (And I really need to work on my theme - it's on the backlog as my professional alter ego would say)

Just completed the course "Learn to Code in #Python" on boot.dev. It's pretty good! There's definitely concepts that I'd like to practice before I go any deeper with Python - such as splicing. Fortunately, the next course is "Learn #Linux" so I have some time to practice in the training grounds! βš”οΈ

boot.devLearn backend development the smart way | Boot.devWelcome to the most captivating, finger-flying, addictive way to learn to code. The smartest way to learn a thing is to ensure you're never bored.

My new thing is taking #PowerShell scripts that run serially and making them parallel, apparently. Quite rewarding seeing the drastic drop in runtime.

I'd love to learn a programming language. It's between Python, C# and Typescript. I like the idea of explicit types but I do think it's going to be Python. Seems like a good place to (re)start.

My weekend win - I've automated #Azure #Entra app registration secret rotation for #Certbot (for Azure DNS auth) and #OpenWebUI OAuth. No more manual rotations and rollouts!

I'm sure the story of GTA VI is going to be great but I'm actually not looking forward to the online mode. GTA V's online mode is why I haven't played GTA since 2019. It's anti-fun and I wouldn't be surprised if GTA VI is the same a couple of years in.

Worked on a Hugo shortcode tonight so now I have info, warning and danger "banners" published to the blog instead of blockquotes with questionable CSS.

It's taken quite some time but I finally have a custom Hugo theme. It's pretty basic and there's certainly things I'd like to add but you've got to start somewhere!

A lot of yesterday's effort was spent setting up a private container registry and occasionally fighting Ubuntu's stub resolver not resolving names properly...

Fixed my reverse proxy yesterday so now I have one less excuse to set my blog back up. I have a shipping list of things I'd also like to do with tech today - GitHub Actions for Kubectl - Using Ansible to manage my K3S nodes - An Azure project I've been working on... But I think today is blog day.

Hmm.. I'm getting an error with #Azure #DeploymentStacks when deploying with -AsJob Code=DeploymentStackInvalidDeploymentStackDefinition The deployment stack must have either TemplateLink or Template property set. I'm a little too tired to figure out if it's a me problem or an Azure problem...

To no one's surprise, UK newspapers are full of truly dreadful - and, at times, outright bizarre - "reporting" of the Climate Change Committee's new carbon-budget advice. For a sane and nuanced summary – with lots of charts - here's our detailed coverage... www.carbonbrief.org/ccc-reducing...

carbonbrief.orgCCC: Reducing emissions 87% by 2040 would help β€˜cut household costs by Β£1,400’ - Carbon BriefThe UK should cut its emissions to 87% below 1990 levels by 2040 under its...

The cost of my standard #Nandos order has now crossed a threshold I told myself I wouldn't pay for. I guess I'm having something else for dinner.

Got myself a treadmill for walking while working. Enjoyed it so far! Even if my elevated desk is a motherboard box on top of an ironing board πŸ˜… When I work from home I usually manage <1000 steps. How many steps will I manage to hit now that I can leisurely stroll while working? Lets find find out

You are up to date.
