Today’s the day! My husband’s children’s book is published and available for purchase! Thank you to everyone who supported us and we hope you enjoy! store.labradillo.com

This whole “Software is Dead” argument isn’t taking into account effort. Yes I could build my own version of PRODUCT-X by vibe coding it, but damnit I’m tired. We’re all tired and don’t want to expend the effort. Just because people CAN doesn’t mean people WILL, no matter how easy we make it.

If you need proof of this, go find a teacher and ask them. Bring the whiskey, it’s going to be a long talk.

On my way to AI Engineers conf in NYC. If you’re there come by and see me at the Temporal booth or drop by my workshop!

Ray Bradbury was one of my favorite authors growing up, with one of my favorite short stories of his being "There Will Come Soft Rains" which if you haven't read it, it's eerie. It's the story of what happens to an automated house when humanity is no longer around following a cataclysmic event. 🧵

He wrote the short story in 1950, envisioning a future where this happened. Well, the date he gives in the book is today. If you've never read it, I highly recommend it. If you want to listen to it (It's about 15m) here's an old recording of Leonard Nimoy reading it archive.org/details/brad...

While AI can be overly verbose, some of y’all just don’t have good reading comprehension skills 😳

Happy Friday! A weekly tradition I started at Temporal is the introduction of Friday Pig. If you type the phrase "Friday Pig" in any channel it pulls this up. Bonus points if you remember where this gif came from.

If you write your posts Like this with random ass Spaces between the sentences I hope the back of your Knees are sweaty for eternity. If you want a longer post Then have an original thought And type it out. Thank you and fuck off.

So either something major happened in the AI space while I was on vacation, or the week long detox cleared my head because damn the posts I’m seeing today some of y’all are fucking cooked.

Took a week off of work and chose to minimally engage with any form of AI (it’s quite useful for identifying plants when hiking) but basically didn’t code at all. Y’all, it was freeing. I’m feeling refreshed and enthusiastic again, not just completely burnt out. Highly recommend.

All this rain has the critters moving. The Flood Warnings are dampening my kayak trips, but at least the animals are keeping me company

Everyone out here bragging about not reading the code their agents produces like it’s somehow novel and new, but let’s be real. Y’all weren’t reading your coworkers requests either. But that’s none of my business. LGTM

If you're interested in how I do all the wild AI stuff I do, on Wednesday at 10am CDT I'll be doing a webinar demonstrating my AI incantations (custom commands, skills, subagents, and more) and how I use them for managing work, personal life, and @PyTexas.org. Come by and say hi! luma.com/jklz2a53

Everyone out here is trying to build Jarvis with AI, and I’m over here trying to build Igor. 🤣🤣🤣 I think we have very different end goals and motivations.

Sometimes I wonder if the writers at Black Mirror are just overwhelmed. Every day is in inspiration for a new episode and they just can’t keep up. I mean, I get it.

Ok I’ve heard from my booth colleagues at #PyConUS some of yall were looking for me at the Temporal booth. I’m actually not working the booth this year 🤣 but I can hangout at the Temporal booth for the rest of the day if you want to come find me.

While I love it, there is a certain hell associated with writing about AI. They used to say that tech books were out of date the moment the ink dried. Well AI blogs are out of date as soon as the TCP handshake completes to the blog you're trying to read.

So I've been chewing on a lot of thoughts about AI, its impact on our industry, what it means going forward, etc. What started as 1 blog is now 3 and may turn into more. 🤣 Check out "We're Witnessing the Evolution of Software Engineering" link in comments. And come back tomorrow for the next one!

Just wrapped up reviewing the submissions to PyTexas for next year’s conference and damn, y’all raised the bar again. This was the most difficult year to decide yet. It’s gonna be an amazing conference this year!

Every couple of months I still update this. Looking for Python communities? Follow! Want to add your own? Comment below!

It’s so cute when Claude Code includes timelines in its plans, especially when it’s like “This will take 10 weeks and numerous people to do it” like I’m not just gonna make it do it in an overnight binge session. 🤣

Hey everyone! I'll be speaking at the Python Houston Meetup (PyHou) tomorrow in Houston, TX! Come by and hear me speak about why Events are the Wrong Abstraction and why you should be using Durable Execution. Can't wait to see you there! RSVP below: 🔽 #Python #HTX #Houston #DurableExecution

I am hereby declaring this the summer of side projects. The increase in productivity that I’m getting with Claude Code is wild. Ideas no longer have to sit planned out in Obsidian, we can build them together.

If you’re going to repeatedly pester me for a review of your business after I was there, to the point of call me asking for it, and you don’t just let me leave a 5-star review but require a minimum character count for text, be prepared for AI written reviews. Harassment isn’t good customer service.

I’m incredibly honored to have received a community service award at #PyConUS2025. I love all the work I do with #PyTexas, and look to many more years of contributing to the community. Also, fun fact, I received this award in the anniversary of my first day at my first ever #PyConUS

Today’s the day of the Community Organizers summit at #PyConUS! Whether you organize conferences, meetups, communities, or want to start one, this event is for you! Join us at 10:30am in Room 317 at #PyConUS2025

Spicy hot take 🌶️: Your AI generated marketing videos fucking suck. Random AI avatar acting shocked and that something happened then going into a product spiel? That lack of effort actively makes me want to use your competitor. Quality still matters y’all.

One of my favorite times of the year tbh

Anyone have any recommendations for resources/courses for learning AI topics? I’m looking to get exposure to the whole ecosystem. List everything you have! I’m particularly looking for content on Inferences, Model Training, Model Deployment, and Data Pipelines

Have a friend applying for college NEW GRAD roles have an interviewer ask how garbage collection works in Python To that interviewer: 1. That is not relevant at all to a college new grad role 2. I guarantee that you probably don’t know how GC works in Python 3. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on
