The macOS built-in curl, git, pip, python3, perl, ruby, and openssl all read /etc/ssl/cert.pem, which still has the emSign root, but they don't check revocation like Apple's Secure Transport libraries. This is, uh, a problem. git and pip especially. I added a short-term workaround to this page.

🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.

I know folks get real mad when I say this but in times of widespread security crisis, static sites sure are nice

🧪 We've expanded Core Web Vitals to include support for soft navigation (SPA)! Since SPAs are handled differently in implementation, they have required bespoke custom measurement, making it hard to compare directly across sites. Measuring performance is a little art, a little science. 1/2

For the spooky season, I'll feature a Hallowtober deep-space object each week. Week three: the Boogeyman Nebula; its glowing eyes (reflection) and silhouetted body (dark dust) backlit by glowing red Hα emission. #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #longexposure #eastcoastkin #eck #photography

Let's talk a little more about Margaret Hamilton because she deserves it In 1961, Margaret Hamilton was tackling massive systems, having previously wrangled room-sized computers that blared like a foghorn whenever they crashed.

It's a shame Digger isn't getting more attention. It's a pretty good, albeit non-trivial, film. I enjoyed the pacing, the layering and especially how color was used in the movie.

For the "spooky season," I'll feature a Hallowtober deep-space object each week. Week one: the Wizard Nebula, a medieval sorcerer wearing a pointy hat and cloak. Younger astronomers often call it the Harry Potter Nebula. #astrophotography #astronomy #nature #longexposure #eastcoastkin #photography

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Aight, it was time to put my money where my mouth is. We're now producing electricity. It's a plug&play system and thus very limited but on good days with a little adjustment in usage patterns it should carry our base load. #solarpower

#regierung #habeck #fortschritt #union
