I've been updating claude.ai (3.7 Sonnet) on what's been happening in the US since its knowledge cutoff (October 2024). I had to tell it to assume that what I am telling it is true, but it seems pretty concerned!
Just published: #DeepSeek #AI's pro-China bias? Easily bypassed! 🧠 I ran DeepSeek-14B locally and found its political restrictions are just superficial guardrails. With the right system prompt, it delivers balanced responses on Tiananmen Square and Xinjiang! blog.patentology.com.au/2025/02/deep...
Australian patent filings 2024: China surpasses Australia! Healthcare innovation booming 🏥, LG Electronics dominates filings 📱, and tobacco companies still trying to look innovative 🤔. Full analysis here: blog.patentology.com.au/2025/02/pate... #patents #IP #innovation #auslaw
First they came for USAID, and we did nothing because it wasn't a hill we were prepared to die on. Then they came for the FBI, and we did nothing because it wasn't a hill we were prepared to die on. Then they came for Congress, and we did nothing because we were in handcuffs and under armed guard.
Very serious Democratic strategists advise the party to allow Trump to illegally dismantle USAID -- a decision that will result in the unnecessary deaths of people around the world. www.politico.com/news/magazin...
Australian #patent filings were down 3.4% to 30,442 in 2024, while small independent firms continue gaining market share - now >20% of filings, 2x their 2014 levels. My latest insights into changing market dynamics across AU/NZ patent attorney services blog.patentology.com.au/2025/01/pate...
Look, obviously Trump doesn't know what happened. But, just as you'd expect, the one thing he knows for sure is that IT'S NOT HIS FAULT! I'm sure that everybody affected by this tragedy will be greatly comforted by that knowledge.
President Trump: "This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!"
Thank god someone's thinking of the rats!
The FDA this week banned the use of Red Dye No. 3 in food, citing concerns that the common dye could cause cancer in rats. What does the science say about its health effects? What foods will be affected? Here are common questions about the newly banned additive.
I honestly don't know why anyone is surprised by this. Musk hires people (e.g. at Tesla, SpaceX, etc) to do stuff they're good at, and then takes all the credit. It's what he does. Same thing here. I don't think he believes it is cheating. It's just how he thinks the world works.
this is way funnier than I thought it would be. Elon, claiming to be a literal global top ten Path of Exile 2 player, does not know to drink a potion when he runs out of mana www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmEe...

Full Court highlights flaws in Australia's 'best method' requirement. Know the best parameters at filing? Must disclose. Find them later? Keep them secret! 🤔 Is this the #patent bargain we want? New blog explores why reform may be needed. #IPLaw #AusLaw blog.patentology.com.au/2024/11/is-i...
🔍 Full Court says finding prior art may be easier than we thought! New analysis of Sandoz v Bayer explores how the bar for "ascertainment" under pre-RtB patent law might be lower than expected. Big implications for patent challenges. #patents #IP #AusLaw blog.patentology.com.au/2024/11/hind...

Unbelievable that this is still happening. Here's a tip: if your lawyer is not sufficiently aware of what's been going on the courts to know the risks of using AI tools, you might want to find another lawyer. I'm not saying don't use the tools, but they can't be used blindly!
A Texas federal judge sanctioned an attorney for submitting a court filing with nonexistent cases and quotations generated by artificial intelligence, as mistakes by AI continue to land lawyers in hot water reut.rs/495KBXb
Ironically, #enshittification has itself become enshittified. Coined by @pluralistic.net.web.brid.gy for a process whereby platforms initially serve, but eventually capture and fleece their users & business customers, it's now mostly used to describe anything that's not as good as it used to be.
Australia's Macquarie Dictionary crowns #enshittification as the word of 2024 As @pluralistic.net.web.brid.gy said earlier this year: "We’re all living through the enshittocene, a great enshittening, in which the services that matter to us, that we rely on, are turning into giant piles of shit”
This isn't news. This is something you could have read in Jonestown in 2006. @jennaprice.bsky.social wrote about this historical experience in her column this morning.
The power Alan Jones wielded had less to do with respect than with fear, according to investigative journalist Chris Masters, author of the bestselling biography, Jonestown: The Power and the Myth of Alan Jones.
