So when I was in grade 1 they wanted to hold me back because I couldn’t cut. I always assumed this was. because I was left handed and there were no left handed scissors. Yesterday, while using tin snips I managed to pinch myself badly enough to leave a huge bruise. My teach may have been justified…

Online gambling has been legal in Alberta for a few days. We were watching something with ads ad 7 out of 8 ads were for online casinos or sports betting. I assume palms were greased cuz I can’t see how this is a good thing

I personally feel that if we have flood-warning-level rain for most of the weekend, we should NOT have wildfire smoke causing air quality warnings, but clearly I am not in charge of Edmonton weather.

I've long said we need more gaming events in Canada, and I love how Game Con Canada and NAGIS are addressing that. I spoke with several developers who explained why these types of Canadian shows are important and how they help support indies like Alberta's talented but oft-overlooked developers. 🍁

When I ran BioWare’s handheld group we looked into doing a Harlequin game. But we couldn’t figure out how to market it. These days that wouldn’t be a problem

I once had a director tell me i "wasn't being professional" because I pitched a dating sim. I told him that romance novels make the most money and asked why he wanted to leave money on the table. He reported me to HR who did nothing because she agreed with me.

The value proposition of working at an AAA studio was that you were trading independence and agency for stability, and that if the game did well, you would keep your job, and if the game did badly, you might lose it. Obviously it wasn’t that cut and dry, but you get it. Now? You just lose your job.

Hello! Are you a game developer who has been impacted by restrictive or confusing contract clauses that essentially prevent you from working on side projects in your own time? If so, I'd love to chat with you (anonymously or otherwise) for a report I'm working on for @gamedeveloper.bsky.social!

Workers deserve the right to work on their own projects outside work without fear that the company may try and claim legal ownership of it due to overly-broad contract clauses. unitedwizardsofthecoast.com/news/2026-05...

Oh shit, is YouTube actually right?!? Is All Quiet on the Western Front actually still under copyright outside of the US? I’m having difficulty figuring out for sure. It looks like the 1929 novel at least may be…

I THINK that the original novel (Im Westen nichts Neues) left copyright internationally in 2025 (Death of Author + 55 years) but it MIGHT be 70 years in which case it stay in until 2041. The MOVIE however still seems to be free and clear.
