Today, October 20, we're taking time to thank election heroes: our neighbors who prepare ballots and help voters check in on Election Day. Happy #ElectionHeroDay to those who help us take part in something bigger than ourselves. #ElectionHeroesVoteEarly #ThankYouElectionHeroes

It's LGBTQ+ Community Center Awareness Day! 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ Today, we recognize the role that LGBTQ+ centers play in our communities, celebrate their services and programming, and honor the dedication of staff and volunteers. Now more than ever, centers are a vital anchor for wellness, support, and much more.

Today, MAP and CenterLink released the 2026 LGBTQ Community Center Survey Report. Based on responses from 175 participating LGBTQ community centers, the report highlights some of the important contributions that centers make to the communities they serve, impacting both LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ people.

Nearly all centers engage in advocacy, public policy, or civic engagement activities, including educating the public about LGBTQ people or LGBTQ issues, working in community-led policy coalitions, and supporting pro-LGBTQ legislation.

Participating centers collectively serve over 29,000 people each week, or over 1.5 million people per year, and they offer tailored programs and services that reflect the diversity of the LGBTQ community and their local communities.

Today and every day, MAP honors the freedom of expression and the pride in being our authentic selves. And in our work, we strive towards a thriving, inclusive, and equitable America for all people. Happy #NationalComingOutDay! 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

Today is the last day of #NationalVoterEducationWeek! If you're already registered to vote and have a voting plan, you can help others get #VoteReady, too. See below for tips on connecting with friends and family about voting.

At MAP, our Democracy Maps help detail this vast and unique landscape. Tracking more than 50 laws and policies related to voting and elections, the Democracy Maps reveal the incredible differences in access to voting and election independence across the country.

Day 3 of #NationalVoterEducationWeek is all about making your plan to vote. Want to vote by mail? Early? On Election Day? These are valid options, depending on where you live, but today, you can decide how you want to vote, decide when you will vote, and add it to your calendar.

Did you know? Nearly half (45%) of the voting-eligible population in the U.S. lives in states whose early voting period is 7 to 14 days. 🔗 Access our real-time Democracy Map below, as well as additional tools to get #VoteReady at NationalVoterEducationWeek.org/plan. mapresearch.org/democracy-ma...

mapresearch.orgEarly Voting Availability - Movement Advancement ProjectAlmost all states offer some form of early voting, but the length of the early voting period varies by state.

For day two of #NationalVoterEducationWeek, we're focusing on your ballot. 🗳️ This fall, your community is voting on candidates and measures that shape housing, schools, public safety, and more. And from ballot measures to initiatives, referendums, and more, there are lots of things to consider.

This report demonstrates a rapidly shifting patchwork of state laws and illustrates how basic rights and protections for LGBTQ people are increasingly dependent on where they live. ⬇️ Read about the report in @assignedmedia.org via @billiejsweeney.bsky.social assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

assignedmedia.orgWave of Anti-Queer Extremism Is Charted in New Report - Assigned MediaMovement Advancement Project illustrates its speed and “near laser” focus on trans people.

By examining these changes, the report demonstrates how 2020 marked the beginning of a new era of anti-LGBTQ politics, characterized by speed, breadth, extremism, and, perhaps more so than anything else, its near-laser focus on transgender people.

“Things like banning transgender kids from playing sports in schools or from being able to access medical necessary healthcare – those things didn’t even exist in 2020,” Logan Casey, MAP’s director of policy research, told me.

The picture for LGBTQ+ Americans has changed in recent years, and for trans folks the change has been the most extreme. That's the upshot of a new report, out today from the Movement Advancement Project. More from @billiejsweeney.bsky.social here: assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

Since 2020, political attacks on LGBTQ and especially transgender people have dramatically escalated. Until now, these attacks have unfolded in legislatures, government agencies, and executive offices. But in 2026, this fight is being put to voters directly. Read more below. ⬇️ 🧵

If voters reject these policies, it may signal to the politicians and lobbyists pushing these anti-transgender efforts that their attacks are unwelcome, potentially stemming the tide of this broader wave of attacks that has unfurled since 2020.

Five states—Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, and Washington—have anti-transgender measures on the November ballot, targeting sports participation, medical care for youth, and more. As a result, this election may mark a critical turning point for LGBTQ and especially transgender rights today.

"ERIC is recognized by experts as the best tool states have to keep voter rolls accurate across state lines. Every state that withdraws from ERIC makes its own rolls harder to maintain and leaves every remaining member with less data to work with,” Brian added.

In ERIC, member states submit their data, which allows them to see if voters have moved within or out of state, identify duplicate registrations, and remove ineligible voters. But a concerning trend began in 2022: states started to withdraw their membership. Since then, 8 states have left ERIC.

“Especially [...] following the Dobbs decision, there’s been some renewed concern about what would happen if Obergefell were to be repealed or reversed by the Supreme Court. Since then, we’ve been seeing more concerted efforts to repeal such measures." — Logan Casey, MAP 19thnews.org/2026/09/virg...
