Writing as no supporter of either candidate's politics, but this was undoubtedly a great victory for democracy in Brazil. I wonder how much US interference backfired. Something similar woke up the Hungarians also.

Having surrendered to the pressure caused by Ukrainian exposure of its withdrawal of Starlink/Starshield services, will the US also deliver Patriot missiles purchased by/for Ukraine now? (I am supposing the US was in cahoots with Musk over Starlink.)

By the way, Musk has exposed himself as an absolute liar by his admission. He has also made it obvious that the US government (ie Trump) was responsible for the Starshield decision.

An 11 year old Ukrainian child, a baby and her mother apparently died today because the US administration has stopped providing full support for Ukraine's air defence. This is something for Americans to contemplate as they vote in their Midterms. Is this who you are? Or are you better than this?

Relieved that Starlink for Ukraine has been restored. But ... we need to know urgently who shut it off. And non-US control of the service needs to be implemented immediately for Europe, and especially for Ukraine.

Does it matter so much who is setting Starlink speed limits? It matters more that it can be done. The service is near worthless if an untrustworthy American third party controls their use. Can the US defence industry as a whole make sales where its president controls usage in such ways.

What is the betting that Trump is planning to help Putin bomb Ukraine into submission before the midterms? ie Helping him target the civilian population by entirely withdrawing US support for Ukraine's anti-ballistic missile defence. He's that sort of guy. So I'm thinking he probably will.

US foreign policy as an instrument of Trump's midterm election campaign. Billions of diesel dollars spent with the clear aim of him retaining control of Congress. The man who demands obsequious loyalty from supposed allies has not an ounce of loyalty himself... except towards Putin, of course.

Timing of UK oil refinery closures has been very poorly judged, in my view. Should have kept capacity close to demand, and taken refineries out of commission only as alternative energy supply increased. Instead, they have front-run the switch leaving the UK exposed.

Trump demands Europe release diesel reserves. Once again, he is passing the buck. The US should release all of its diesel reserves first because it caused this problem and it must take responsibility for what it has done. Ukraine can't fix this problem. Nor can Europe as a whole. Eat the pie.
