wtf is #1p4floss? One percent 💰 for Free & Libre Open Source Software Normalize regularly giving to support the uncountable "dude in Nebraska holding up the internet" #XKCD2347 that make our computing life rich. Because software needs to be more expensive blog.glyph.im/2024/03/soft... #floss

blog.glyph.imSoftware Needs To Be More ExpensiveSoftware, like coffee, is too artificially cheap, and we need to make it more expensive. I have one suggestion for how to do that.

And maybe start acting like children, feel the pain, fully, completely, and let it go, because there's new joy right around the corner waiting to come in when there's room.

I crave ending but have none, no neat bow, no denouement. Except: take a breath, and another. Feel toes, weight of clothes. In 90 seconds or less feeling will pass, if we don't spur it for another spin. It's chemistry. Will it right a wrong? No, but it might drive around a future one, if we let it

There is no way to say grow the hell up and stop acting like children without sounding like a crass, heartless, uncaring sociopath, but that's what I got

"But the handicapped need cars!" No, what they need are options in mobility. The tech exists to enable their freedom of independent mobility, but almost always what is lacking is the enabling infrastructure. Bike lanes and quality sidewalks serve everyone.

have you heard of #khipu ? Incan knotted cords that are a language or accounting system. Oh wait, maybe both?? "trained khipukamayuqs could recite their contents aloud: laws, ceremonies, and business accounts." - alba-project.org/khipu-reader/

alba-project.orgCracking the Khipu — A Proposed Reading | ALBA ProjectAn experimental syllabic reading of 619 Andean khipus. 46,512 candidates tested, ~97% coverage. Judicial proceedings, astronomical journals, cadastral surveys.

"Numbers and text coexist on the same cord, switched by a single structural marker: the figure-eight knot. When present: text mode. When absent: arithmetic mode. The same positional grammar, two interpretations, one binary flag." - github.com/Alba-Researc...

"Hey matt, I'm Larry from ... Talent Desk. ... interested in this lucrative employment offer?" - hazard of having a public profile in places like github. "etransfer $500 to this address and we'll talk. It's a nuisance I know, but I've found it necessary to filter out the unserious."

Surprise, no depoits so far :- ] However, much more satisfying than the delete and block I used to do, and I'm curious what phish they might try next in response, in the next generation of bots
