Horrifying: Arizona Democratic congressional candidate Bernadette Greene-Placentia was raped by a man after he knocked her out. Another man approached her to do the same. “She began swinging her foot at him. ‘Not even worth it,’ she heard the man say as he moved away.”

This enrages me so deeply I don't know what to say. Being able to control your body is *the* most basic freedom, one which is necessary for the exercise of all other freedoms possible in a liberal democratic society

Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests. Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade. Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."

If you don't have autonomy over your own body, what do you really have?

Many current and past political struggles are fundamentally over who gets to control their own body and who gets to control others' bodies. It's not limited to abortion rights at all

yimby voting streak in state + local primary elections continues

Just followed @somervilleyimby.org recs on primary candidates! Didn't love only voting for men in a primary but housing is THE issue in local politics & policy matters a hell of a lot more to me than local descriptive representation

The Midterms are an unprecedented opportunity for a Tea Party-like transformation of the Democratic Party: new and radicalized voters electing new and radical politicians, but then democratic and on left-wing. Except: there is no Tea Party of the left. There is momentum but little infrastructure.

TLDR: the movement was moderately electorally successful. Losing challengers affected incumbent rhetoric and cosponsorship, moving them slightly more toward accommodating progressive challengers' positions. Progressive challengers have not been nearly as successful as Tea Party

I'm working on a project on cross-national young gender gap that shows dif patterns. The below w ESS & CSES data show 1. Dif in ideology (id=standardized by country) btwn young men & women, where x is year & y is standard deviations 2. Young men & women ideology relative to other age-gender groups

Boylan's campaign video reminds me of Ossof's "Epstein class" comment. Interesting -- and potentially quite effective -- rhetorical moves to tie economic and sexual predation together. We should have a world free from both

I took down Andrew Cuomo, now I'm running for City Council to take on the cost of living crisis.
