imagining jd vance slipping on a pile of dog shit and landing face-first in a second pile of dog shit. when he puts his hands down to try to stand up again? you guessed it. two more piles of dog shit.

Back in the old days, this would just mean that the price crashes and the $3,000 sound system from ten years ago now costs $300, but that's not allowed to happen anymore so here we are.

This is about folding phones but it's a perfect explanation of why everything is so shit.

what I really want to know is does trump denounce hasan, and I want to know it again every day until election day

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

You can't expect the New York Times to give any attention to a story about the president being credibly accused of violent rape when the story breaks so close to an election. It's not like we're talking about something *really* important, like email security protocols.

lmbo 1) get a new reference point, and 2) my brother, your actions and words are both the reason people hate your guts and the amplifier

ESPN rushed to Pat McAfee's defense while the University of Utah apologized over a student Instagram video that triggered the ESPN star. awfulannouncing.com/college-foot...

incidentally, in 2018 the republican (desantis) was spewing racism against the black dem candidate, which probably won him the election in a very close race. this year, the republican is black - so all those years of racism might come back to bite them

G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com

Florida early voting update: Early in-person turnout among Republicans has fallen off a cliff. At R+0.4, the total early vote in the state is about as blue as 2018, 5 points higher than this point in 2022, and 10 points higher than in 2024. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-early...

you could just as easily and ignorantly pick a red state and say they don't produce literature or science ("anymore" if you want to hedge) and most people wouldn't have the off-the-dome knowledge to say you're wrong, even though in all cases you'd be wrong.

it's so cool that we get to live in the world where 10 or 12 times a year, giannis lets us see the extra 2 feet of arm he keeps hidden as he dunks on some hopeless sap

in a just world, there would be so many more pressing things for him to be afraid of than impeachment

The New Republic@newrepublic.com

Pete Hegseth knows that he could soon be impeached—and he’s trying to come up with a backup plan. trib.al/XwuegA8

I navigated my london trip mostly by remembering where the landmarks were in assassin's creed: syndicate

David Barnett@davidmbarnett.bsky.social

I have literally zero idea about the geography of London. I know Kings Cross, and everything else is accessed by going into the bowels of the earth and emerging again somewhere near the right place, which is either near the river, or not near the river.

any day is a good day for it to happen, but it would be fun to watch him see the consequences of his own actions if next tuesday goes like people say it will

two starters down with nasty injuries within three games, just like we drew it up

Joesferatu@makeitunclear.bsky.social

the orlando magic will be playing a regulation game of basketball in less than 4 hours, and all five starters might even have made it that long without suffering devastating final destination-like injuries

one cool thing about the magic is every now and then, one of their attempted turnovers will accidentally find its way through the hoop, resulting in points. almost makes me wonder if that should be the goal in the first place.

it would be neat if we didn't have to judge a candidate's position more or less by fundraising when there is a headline every other day about a fascist trillionaire pumping an arbitrary number of millions into the opposition

Acton is now the number one candidate on actblue for the weekend

Boring answer is the Bible because it generated critical writing so bad that Europe won't allow anyone to have strong opinions on it anymore. If we divide by reach, though, I've rarely read a non-putrid opinion (favorable or unfavorable) of Pulp Fiction.

look for franz wagner's injury sometime around thanksgiving, watch jalen suggs play like an all star for 2 or 3 games before his knee implodes, wendell carter can go down just in time for his new year's vacay, limp to 41 wins and a first-round exit if we're lucky, "maybe next year" lmao

a coworker who is otherwise cool and indeed quite woke has developed a recent affection for a sophie cunningham reaction gif, perhaps a bad bellwether for orlando florida usa

Exactly. Chemistry teaches you to think "if I don't do all the work for this group assignment all four of us will fail, and the other three kids know it," something you must understand to work basically anywhere.

This is ragebait so not directly quoting it, but the question misses the point: studying those topics trains you to THINK, which ia something EVERYONE needs to know regardless if you use those specific skills.

I'm confused, isn't this just war? don't you expect to be attacked when you're killing civilians as an occupying army? and if it's newsworthy, why haven't I gotten 100,000 push notifications about palestinians who were killed?
