And yet stock prices will still go up because tech bros and billionaires will artificially propel it up by overvaluing it because the stock market is bullshit. “Invisible Hand” my ass.

In the process of nuking my Twitter account and it feels great. First I'm using a service to scrub all of my tweets, replies, and likes because I don't trust Elon to actually delete it when I close my account. But as soon as it's done I'm gone forever.

It's also a journalism failure that one of the most relevant news sources is Teen Vogue.

When a single billionaire can accumulate more money in 10 seconds than their employees make in one year, while workers struggle to meet the basic cost of rent and medicine, then yes, every billionaire really is a policy failure. Read our op-ed here ⤵️

Further proof that the GOP hates veterans. They pretended to love active service members (thuh heeroze!) when there was a war making their defense industry donors obscene amounts of money, but now that all of that is over they actively detest them.

It's no longer DEI. It's DEIA. A for accessibility. They're coming for the disabled now. There are a lot of disabled veterans in the federal workforce.

Lions fans in shambles. r/NFCNorthMemeWar is going to be entertaining after this one.

JUST IN: The New York Jets are hiring former Lions DC Aaron Glenn as the team's next head coach, a source tells @diannarussini.bsky.social. Details: www.nytimes.com/athletic/607...

Why it's almost as if he's been completely full of shit this entire time. Fuck this asshole and his wasting MILLIONS of dollars on a criminally self-indulgent vanity grift.

Do you need a pick me up? That rich twit living a life of miserable asceticism in order to stay young forever has discovered that one of his anti-aging pills was actually prematurely aging him and also giving him skin infections. gizmodo.com/longevity-ob...

Racism writ large, and really all forms of supremacy, are about insecure white people having nothing else but their race to make themselves feel important. "Well, I ain't shit, never been shit, never gonna be shit...but I'm not black!" and now they get to convince themselves they're superior.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...

It's why the Southern Strategy worked (Sure you're poor and your life sucks, but vote for us and we'll make sure black people's lives will always suck more!"). It's why manosphere trad-bro shit works ("As a man this world belongs to you and those angry bitches are trying to take it from you!")

It's so transparently about mediocre people maintaining an unequal playing field so that they can convince themselves they are naturally superior. Equality and equity force them to confront the fact that they're not and they hate it.

Every question from the senators should have been job specific like this. This demonstrates lack of preparedness. This could have convinced 3 republicans he isn’t the right one for the job

YIKES! Duckworth asks Hegseth to name a country that's in ASEAN. He names three -- none of which are in ASEAN. "I suggest you do a little homework," she says.

And as people start to hurt from things like this, especially when MAGA-types are hurting from it, expect them to go even harder for the most vulnerable: trans people, immigrants, unhoused people, etc. As MAGA hurts, they will need to show them the people they hate are hurting more.

Who is your celebrity “Birthday Twin” (born same day as you)? Answer with pic or gif only.

I used to fly jets for the Navy, taking off and landing on aircraft carriers. I am also in awe of these pilots. Some of these aircraft are carrying 20 times their weight in water/retardant. They're doing it at SCARY low altitudes in INSANE updrafts. Nerves of fucking steel.

Again, my trauma didn’t make me stronger, my trauma broke me. I was strong before my trauma, and I regained that strength after. My trauma, and those who perpetrated it, do not get the credit for that. They weren’t there to break me out of the emotional prison of pain they put me in. I did that.

What if that still made you stronger though

Watching the new season of #QueerEye. It's weird without Bobby, but Jeremiah is fantastic! He might be my new favorite cast member. Such a good fit and it's so endearing when he breaks down with the hero during the reveals.

This is literally true. School vouchers were pioneered as a way to help white supremacists send their kids to a new wave of private "segregation academies" created expressly for the purpose. From my book WHITE FLIGHT:

Max Kennerly@maxkennerly.bsky.social

School vouchers are a re-segregation tax, in which everyone is forced to pay the most racist white people so they can avoid sending their kids to schools with minorities. The only plus side is that the schools suck and don't help their kids get into better colleges. 🙏

We need to stop listening to the fossils like Clinton, Carville, and Axelrod. Theirs is an outdated, losing strategy. We need to start acting like @robertgarcia.bsky.social and @repjasmine.bsky.social . It's time to start punching back.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Bill Clinton's advice to Democrats: "You gotta talk like people talk who will make the difference in the outcome in the election. You don't have to sell out what you believe in. But you do have to meet people where they live."

Yes, I'm sure the guy who just carried out an exceptionally meticulous murder and has still not been caught would have been completely thwarted by a company's "About" page on their website.

I love, love, LOVE that the guy in the picture is exactly what you picture for a troll and will absolutely trigger the FUCK out of those guys. But it's just perfect: the hat, the goatee, the wraparound sunglasses, the shitty tattoo. Chef's kiss.

For the new folks, one of #bluesky 's best features is that you can paste a url to link to(which uses a bunch of your 240 characters). That will create a link card (see below).Once the card is posted, you can delete the url and the link card remains but you get the characters back from deleting them.

Okay, can we talk about the fact that there's a chain of Mexican restaurants whose name is Mexican slang for boobs? Hooters owes them money.

It's reassuring to see that George Wallace owns Bluesky just as completely as he owned Twitter. I hereby reinstate him as a national treasure. Those responsible for the temporary downgrade will be sacked.

I am being downgraded to a regional treasure. I appreciate privacy during this difficult time.

They're worse than the bully who peaked in high school. They're the people who idolized the bully and still consider that to be the "cool popular person". So they're grown ass adults **still trying** to peak in high school. And it's pathetic.
