I saw many young people voting today. I do not believe I have ever seen anyone younger than me at the polling place here in knoxville (and I'm 52).

I also think it's massively funny that there wasn't a single hagerty or blackburn sign outside the polling place but SO many signs for dems and third party candidates.

the moonrise tonight was one of the most spectacular ones I've ever seen. I was driving home from nashville as it rose over the smokies - a massive orange yellow orb with wispy black clouds moving over it.

When I reposted this the other day I realized this means I haven't slept through the night in at least 8 months.

I am not a fan of the elderly dog doomsday clock moving another minute closer to midnight.

BREAKING WSJ: Vladimir Putin has proposed that he, Trump, and Xi Jinping meet next month to talk about Ukraine in an attempt to negotiate an end to the four-year conflict that would favor Moscow.

Ossoff: "Foster kids don't have lobbyists or a super PAC. Neither do the women subjected to medical abuse in ICE detention. Neither do the female inmates sexually abused by the warden and the chaplain in their federal prison ... they deserve leaders who see them"

I have spent the better part of the last 24 hours trying to understand the current administration's policy on fining immigrants and I swear to god this is just my face right now 😵‍💫

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

making large amounts of food and ensuring nothing goes to waste was a carol trait. after all, her parents were sharecroppers during the depression. nothing ever went to waste and no one was ever idle.

we always have jalapeños, serranos, cayenne, and habaneros. also, usually poblanos. we also try a new few ones every year. we've had fresno, banana, ghost, reapers, etc. this year we're trying out tabasco, which is the tiny red one in the pic.

the teenager and I have a whole flower bed just dedicated to spicy peppers, we've been doing this for six years. every fall I pickle some and dry others. the habanero flakes are a particular favorite around here.

the dog is having a rough time, like I didn't know if I'd have to call it at like 3am, sort of rough time. I think the cooking is maybe the only way I can distract myself. anyway, I just made a massive amount of chicken piccata meatballs.

Used to go to a sushi joint down the street from my house in PDX that used real wasabi and it was incredibly delicious. We talk about it regularly still, though it's been 7 years since I last had it.

Real wasabi is common in Japan but has long been a luxury in the U.S. It has to be served soon after preparation and doesn’t grow easily outside its native ecosystems. But a farm on the Oregon Coast may be changing that.

it's wild to realize just how deeply I have needed someone to say these things so clearly and succinctly.

the past ten years have been devastating to those of us who give a shit about truth and other people. I feel like someone just handed me a tiny cup of water after years of begging.
