Shaheen: "He seemed to say Russian children have also been displaced & kidnapped, & that's just not true. It's Ukrainian children the Russians have taken back to Russia. They've taken them from their families, thousands of them. It is very clear who is violating intl law here, & it's not Ukraine."

NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.

i am genuinely bewildered by people who say that the rise of white nationalism in the republican party is a response to the "woke left." like, did the woke left cause pat buchanan's 1992 presidential campaign? is the woke left why steve king had a long career in congress?

My daughter lost a tooth yesterday. My wife was traveling, so I handled tooth fairy duties. I left a $10 under her pillow, which I thought was v generous, but she woke up, saw the bill & said: "But why did the Tooth Fairy leave me $20 last time?" 😆 (I wasn't aware my wife had gone so over the top!)

When the US bombed an Iranian school, killing over 100 kids, it involved over-reliance on an AI targeting system called "Maven," which based it on outdated information. I called it in @foreignpolicy.com in April Now confirmed in @bloomberg.com report of Pentagon investigation

#ConstitutionDay has arrived, but this year, it’s time to stop celebrating a blueprint that’s actively failing us. The 1787 framework isn’t divinely inspired or a roadmap for democracy—it’s a seminar in how not to build a functional government.

#9 Modern democracies around the world have looked at the U.S. model and rejected it for many of these reasons. On this anniversary, stop romanticizing a broken system. The Constitution shouldn't be worshipped as a masterpiece; it should be studied as a cautionary tale.

#6 3. A nonsensical Unitary Executive hypothesis that turns the DOJ, Department of Education, DOD, and the rest of the executive bureaucracy into a partisan enforcement arm. 4. Qualified immunity shielding an unaccountable police apparatus-who violate constitutional rights with impunity.

#7 On top of all of that, we have gerrymandered and rigged state maps locking down legislatures and silencing the voices of the people - those same people specifically laid out to be protected in the 14th and 15th amendment.

#2 The U.S. Constitution was compromised from day one, and is a deeply flawed document. One of its foremost components is the codification of slavery, which resulted in the 3/5ths Compromise, and as a kludge, created the Electoral College. This guaranteed a system that would benefit a minority.

Instead - say what IS true, call out the fact that he lies (without repeating the claim) and ascribe motivation to it. In America voters pick our leaders, our leader do not pick their voters. But Trump knows voters are turning against him so he is peddling the same lies about the election he lost

Timely reminder: Authoritarians lie to be repeated - to force us to have their conversation instead of our own. If you're debunking the claims, you're giving them airtime.
