It's so weird when you're writing a crossword and a theme accidentally emerges. Like, why are 25 per cent of these clues about chickens for some reason.

In case you missed it, Angas and I appeared on ABC radio this morning to promote the new Minute Cryptic book. Brian Nankervis threw a curve ball at us and asked us to write a clue for FALLOPIAN (😁)... giving us about ten minutes.

We get SO many comments like this at Minute Cryptic! I know it's sacrilegious, but I often think that cryptics would be fairer and more accessible if we employed substitution indicators....
