Lori Ryerson 🇨🇦 Focalocity Photography

I'm a Toronto-based art photographer and wordsmith. I love to travel to make my art, but I don't always have to go far to find subject matter. I watch for the quiet moments, always on the lookout for a little mystery in the mundane. I'm also on Instagram as @focalocity.

Rocky Mountaineer Chimera - one of my all time personal favourite shots. #transportation #BlueSkyArtShow

It's the End of the Line in #transportation for the #BlueSkyArtShow.

Here we go again.

Am I the only person who hears the Obama style of speech delivery here? That's not a bad thing, just something I immediately noticed in the pauses, the questions. It would be grand to see this man in the WH.

@torontohydro.bsky.social I hear that I need ti be on Twitter to get TH news. Isn't it time to update? Gander or Bluesky would be helpful, since not all of us are willing to pander to Musk.

In the Good Old Days, we called this Lake Ontario, in the #summer for #blueskyartshow

Carnival rides at #summer fairs, #blueskyartshow

TRIPPING THE LIGHT FANTASTIC: The only place in #DeathValley where you can see the water above ground. Who says you can't take images at the height of the day? #BlueSkyArtShow #Water

FENCED IN. Never going to have a shortage of #BlueSkyArtShow #Water images.

#big foot - elephant walk. Happy August 1st #BlueSkyArtShow.

Yo Senate folks - If you're looking for who thoroughly botched the COVID response, you're grilling the wrong octogenarian.

You absolutely MUST click through this and read the comments. I ... I just ... OMFG ...

Really, really glad to see someone understands just how dangerous this massive communications merger is. It's one more way for the current US administration to control what kind of information the general public gets.

It's tempting to push an image for all the details, but at the end of the day, when photographing fleurs, you mustn't give in to the temptation. A light hand is called for. Magnolias should always be respected for their gentle strength.

This is so great. Silver linings...continuing to explore new partnerships, new relationships.

Appreciate that Canada is continuing to explore new opportunities. If you are looking for reliability, Canada is your go-to choice.

#BlueSkyArtShow needs some #new life showing. Spring hopes eternal, after this way-too-long, interminable winter.

Just because a President announces he’s agreed to a two week ceasefire moments before he threatened to commit war crimes, does not mean he is suddenly fit to serve. #25thAmendment

#BlueSkyArtShow says today is for #Openings. "Hourly Rates" is my entry. This may be open, but I dunno that I really want to go in there.

This administration is the biggest grift in US history. Follow the money. ALWAYS follow the money.

#BlueSkyArtShow #Stone amazing how a few million years will do this to a few pieces of rock.

#BlueSkyArtShow #Stone everywhere you looked; Spain.

Leafnado - a little #ICM in the #Round for the Saturday #BlueSkyArtShow.

Canada Strong. 🇨🇦 Today, for the 1st time in year, I have hope. Hope for the future of MY country, Canada, and hope that the other "middle powers" will join us in taking the sign out of the window. Thank you Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social from a grateful Canadian. #elbowsup #canadastrong

We can build walls or we can be more ambitious — and build something better, stronger, and more just.

In an era of great power rivalry, Canada is choosing to be principled and pragmatic. To name reality, to act together, and to build what we claim to believe in.

Shine the light on the cockroaches. These are the ones pulling the strings.

This is such amazing news. Each day, my PM is working with another country to make CANADA strong. Going through a divorce is never easy, especially when it's someone you loved and trusted for years. It's very sad, it hurts, but WE WILL GET THROUGH IT. Way to go, @mark-carney.bsky.social , thank you.

This has been the plan all along. - Foment violence and chaos in the streets of MN - Implement the Insurrection Act - Declare Martial Law - Suspend elections

#Abstract #photography for #BlueSkyArtShow, Saturday theme of #Vibrant. A little fun with an iris, to brighten up a winter's day.

#BlueSkyArtShow #NewYear 2025 can't f**k off fast enough. 2026: first year of the 2nd quarter century of the 3rd millennium. We need to do a lot better. I will keep making art because art makes the world better. That’s my 2026 story, and I’m sticking with it. Also: OKAY, BLUE JAYS, LET'S PLAY BALL!

"When the Sky Falls" set in the #FaroeIslands. Helping the #BlueSkyArtShow celebrate a year of Saturday challenges with my #OpenHouse image. I loved the constantly changing skies & weather systems over there; this turned out to be one of my fav images from 2024. #clouds so low you could touch them.

It’s been a particularly heavy start to Hanukkah this year. May the memories of those who were killed be a blessing. May we keep in our minds the suffering of those injured. And may we share our prayers with their families and the Jewish community in Australia.

Hiding in plain sight. Above the #wildfire #smoke coming from about 20 miles away, while up in a #hotairballoon we see another hot air balloon below us. #BlueSkyArtShow, up in the #sky, watching this incredible early morning scene unfold above Sedona, Arizona.

#BlueSkyArtShow #Warmth #globalwarming #wildfire #smoke Flying in a hot air balloon above Sedona while the smoke of a nearby wildfire blankets the peaks. #landscape #aerialphoto

Sigh. Better late than never; I was inside, watching my team lose last night's baseball game LOL. #inside #BlueSkyArtShow

Super proud of our #TorontoBlueJays. It all comes down to 1 game, sending all the positive energies. #letsplayball Great sportsmanship, love the energy on both teams. Shout out to the tremendous tech skills on the field & in studio. So impressed with Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez calling the games.

I won't add my tourism dollars, I won't even fly through 'Murica, and I'm doing my #elbowsup best to #BuyCanadian. But for today's mass #NoKings protest, sending my moral support. Above all, remain #peaceful. They want to scare you into violence. Don't let them. Stay safe. #saynotofascism

The Malahat Skywalk spiral tower near Victoria, BC. Get #vertical above the tree line for a spectacular view of the Saanich Peninsula. If you're brave enough, lie down on that net platform with nothing between you and the ground except that net. #BlueSkyArtShow #architecture #thrills #photography

It's #salmon season in #Toronto! Yup, you can actually see salmon spawning upstream in the middle of an urban centre. It's always so cool to witness. Tagging it #FishyFriday (not quite #FlyDay, unless you're the one doing the fishing!!!) in the #PhotographersofBluesky #DailyArt.

Henley Harbour ruins in Labrador; most likely a church built near the remains of an ancient fortress. #31daysofHalloween #Spooktober #RedWed #abandoned #GhostTown

Saturday morning. #BlueSkyArtShow says take time to #relax today. The #morninglight in #deathvalley will always clear some space in your mind. #landscape #photography. Thank you to the thousands of #altgov and @altnps.bsky.social folks taking risks to protect. This is for you. #staysafe

In all the chaos, I would urge folks to remember that a lot of folks now don’t know when their next check will come. The vast majority are good people who love this nation deeply, and many of them are still working despite not knowing when they’ll be paid Have compassion.

A tribute to mark the passing of the very great and gracious Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE. Thank you for generously sharing your life's knowledge with us. (A Geoffroy's Tamarin, perched in a Cecropia tree, aka trumpet tree, taken in Panama.) #wildlife #photography #primates #monkeys

All around me the noise is fierce, on so many fronts. Tonight is the start of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. It's in my DNA to find myself mentally closing the door on the noise, making time for quiet reflection. I wish friends a sweet and healthy year. I'll be in the kitchen if you need me.
