Halloween is just around the corner, get into the thrilling spirit with #BadSamaritan. The terrifying cautionary tale of two thieves is available on #ElectricNOW - completely free!

They sing that Pinball Wizard song, right? 😜

Fat Mike was also smart enough to make sure the entirety of Fat Wreck Chords followed Copyright deposit rules. This means we have the WHOLE LABEL! .....and I got to catalog all the CDs!!!!!!!

I loved their Gereg album. It's Mongolian chants with heavy metal!

The Hu's third album 'Hun' brings Mongolian chants, crushing guitars and centuries of tradition into one fierce sound. "Lost Soul" adds Nothing More's Jonny Hawkins to the mix, and the result is pure thunder. zurl.co/eQV7M

South Carolina! Monday! Free! I’m speaking at Lander University in Greenwood, and I’m stoked to have the DRUGStm crew coming out to run hands-on demos with the circuit-bent PS2 they built for me + other glitch wizardry. Hope to see some of you there! Free tix -> www.eventbrite.com/e/rob-sherid...

But AFTER Labor Day ??? What a faux paw♣️

To the 80s and 90s kids from the DMV: remember grabbing the receipts from Giant Food to turn them into the school so the school could get computers? Mom and I turned it into a game and would visit multiple Giants and go through all of the grocery carts left in the parking lot to grab loose receipts!

Spooky season special: The Library is home to the sole surviving nitrate print of the first film adaptation of "Frankenstein," produced in 1910 by the Edison Manufacturing Company! Watch the full film and learn how it came to the Library. ⬇️ blogs.loc.gov/loc/2018/11/...

Mispronouncing Portsmouth or Norfolk is a capital offense in itself.

❤️

I've been trapped in the Copyright room way too long 🤣 Also, it was faster than writing down "please don't touch these" on every single box 🤷🏼‍♀️ #LibraryLife

OTD 37 years ago: Around noon, I discovered Nine Inch Nails and heard Head Like a Hole for the 1st time🎶❤️🎵

Before writing music for Almost Paradise and The Ark he was in this tiny little band called Cinderella 😉❤️

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

We had magnificent October freak weather today of 77 degree sunshine, and Jean-Luc was in autumnal bliss

I got asked where to find more info about groups leading the fight against data center sprawl in Virginia. So here's a thread for a few groups I can vouch for personally. First: The Virginia Data Center Reform Coalition, organized by the Piedmont Environmental Council: www.pecva.org/region/regio...

So a bunch of us went to the Ben Cline rally today but were turned away ( even though most pre-registered) because we were Democrats. He is our Representative in Congress but we weren’t allowed into the event! Amazing! #declinethe6th #voteBethMacy #Clineiscrooked #Clineisacreep

Same. This is my one and only complaint!

The Librarians keep traveling. Very excited to see #TheLibrarians: The Next Chapter heading to Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia. It’s always incredible watching this universe find new audiences around the world. senalnews.com/en/content/m...

In case anyone wants to know what I'll be doing that day 😉

October is Canadian library month and workers appreciate the love but need you to be even louder right now in supporting libraries, especially in Alberta. Check out www.caplibraries.ca for more info.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Does anyone know of a good outlet for manga reviews? They're popular at our library but I have no idea what to select. Because I am an old. 📚💙 #LibSky

I have a feeling I'll be spending way longer than 5 minutes laughing at this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🎉🎂🥳❤️

My brain woke me up with no alarm this early, and this is the first post I see when I open the app 😂😂😂😂

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to my Chicago events at the Post Punk & Industrial Museum! 2 days, 4 events, ~200 people, great conversations with Martin Atkins, and an inspiring screen printing session. Thanks PPIM staff & super-producer/wife Steph for making it happen. We love you Chicago!

In my graduation class some of us had shirts that said 7997. Year we were born, and year we graduated!

I loved Quantum Leap and NCIS New Orleans. I hope they have him play piano in a few episodes. I loved it when he did that on NCIS New Orleans ❤️

The town’s three surveillance cameras will be deactivated and bagged by the local police department.

Virginia voters will decide Nov. 3 whether to remove the state Constitution’s ban on same-sex marriage and guarantee equal marriage rights regardless of sex, gender or race. The amendment would protect same-sex couples if federal protections are overturned. virginiamercury.com/2026/10/08/c...

“It sounds like a hybrid of violin and bagpipes with constant drone and buzzing sound, the latter produced by a special, moving bridge called a chien, French for ‘dog.’” Spotlight on Hurdy-Gurdy:

We are pulling really old discs out of the vault to do complete cataloging as opposed to the brief bibliographic records that they had. I just cataloged this one recently!

I said I liked it. I didn't say it was good. Post yours!

Oh joy, the pornbots have discovered Bluesky🤬🙄

Here’s the Museum of Post Punk & Industrial Music Airbnb:

If you’re visiting Chicago, the Museum of Post Punk & Industrial Museum has a 4-bedroom Airbnb above it that is an exceedingly cool place to stay. Road case furniture, a killer vinyl/book/media library, a jam room, and real artifacts/memorabilia lining every wall, from Joy Division to Skinny Puppy.

but there's NO LEGROOM. AT ALL.

Me too!

Oooo I didn't know about this!
