One of my favourite moments from Taronga Zoo Sydney: This beautiful Andean Condor. She was on the aviary floor when I arrived, but on seeing me she flew up to a perch and started preening right in front of me. All the other park visitors just walked past, but I was smitten. #birds

Whoever came up with the idea to put eyes at the end of this decorative grass/garden feature at the park deserves a raise. More whimsy, please.

Quest for secret house continues as my father bought a ladle to heat oil over the stove in because I won't let him use my measuring cups to do it in. Not sure we ever convinced him you don't put out oil fires with water either... 🤦🏻‍♀️ He's simply determined that's the best way to do it. 🤷‍♀️

Worried about my poor Nermal. She seems to be breathing a bit heavily and moving back and forth slightly. Google was doom and gloom. As a 6 yo Orpington, I suppose she's not young anymore, and quite a large bird. Didn't have as many stories as usual today either. :/ Seemed okay on Saturday.

I got a Gopro just before my last summer trip to Churchill. I'm still figuring it out, but I did manage to capture some footage of these juvenile belugas trailing behind our zodiac the other day. They're very curious and like the bubbles from the idling (and prop-guard protected) motor.

Super bummed Jackie the eagle from Big Bear Valley didn't make it. 😕 I guess it was a longshot but I was really pulling for her. Glad they were able to save that land, but my middle of the night mind is pretty sad she won't get to enjoy the protection.

I don't mean to complain here all the time but I was really looking forward to this weekend and all I was going to do and it fell through, and a relative was a pain, and honestly I don't know why I bother taking time off work! 🙄 But I started watching the first season of Silo and that's been good!

A few additional photos of the absolutely stunning male scissor-tailed flycatcher in flight. I could watch these elegant #birds dance in the sky forever and never tire of it.

The situation reminds us that "purchases" made in many digital stores are, unfortunately, just long-term rentals.

What my father said while I was finishing a class: "we'll need you soon." What he should have said: " ________ fell out of his wheelchair and is lying on the driveway in the baking sun and I can't get him up!" (several minutes before he actually did). 😠

Overseas friends: as someone from a similar climate who worked from home in a second story apartment with no AC during our 109F heatwave. Put your feet in a bucket of ice water. Only thing that made it bearable.
