Amazing work by @ppwang.bsky.social on self-supervised 3D representations of animals! We show, among other downstream tasks, how the self-supervised backbone can be incorporated into Lightning Pose for even stronger multi-view pose estimation ⚡

🎉 BEAST3D is a #NeurIPS2026 Oral! Can a moving animal's 3D shape predict what its neurons are doing, better than tracked keypoints? On average, yes. BEAST3D is a self-supervised vision transformer that reconstructs animals in 3D from unlabeled multi-camera lab video. 🧵

Happy to see Lightning Pose put to use in this amazing brainwide benchmark dataset for neuro-behavioral models!

We’re excited to share BrainWideBench, a new benchmark for evaluating how models of neural activity generalize across animals and tasks! 📄 Check out the paper here! arxiv.org/abs/2609.22064 Special shoutout to @alx-adr.bsky.social, who contributed equally as co-first authors!

Hi everybody, the Lightning Pose team is hiring a research software engineer to continue building frontend and backend tools for pose estimation, as well as other behavioral analysis approaches. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Lightning Pose now enables an end-to-end workflow: labeling, calibration, training, and deployment, all without local infrastructure. ✅ Browser-native UI with multi-camera support ✅ Plug-and-play dataset templates and example notebooks Clone and get started for free → go.lightning.ai/4smuQU5

🎉 Excited to announce Lightning Pose 3D! A complete redesign of our app with powerful new features: calibration-aware labeling for multiview data, state-of-the-art multiview transformer models for training & inference, an interactive video viewer, and continued support for single-view projects.

Very cool work from the Wu lab pairing #SLEAP with the Ensemble Kalman Smoother!

Super excited to share the first cooperative foraging paradigm in freely interacting mouse pairs! Stable leader and follower roles emerge spontaneously and predict learning. Well-trained mice show stereotyped, role-specific “behavioral motifs” absent in naive animals (1/5) doi.org/10.1101/2025...
