Moving photos to your new phone is NOT backing them up. If you’re trading in or wiping your old iPhone this week, check this setting immediately before touching "Transfer to New iPhone" or you might lose original resolution photos forever: 🧵👇

(4/4) migration checklist: ✅ Verify file sizes on a desktop (4K 60fps clip must be 200MB+, not a 2MB thumbnail) ✅ Keep the old phone un-wiped for at least 48 hours ✅ Export uncompressed originals locally Tip: If AirDrop fails on large batches or you’re transferring to a Windows PC, grab SyncDrop.

Here’s the catch: If iCloud was full (or syncing paused), original files were never fully uploaded. Once you factory reset your old phone, the originals are gone for good. Never trust cloud sync alone during a migration. Always push an offline, byte-for-byte local archive to your PC or Mac first

(2/4) Check: Settings > Photos > "Optimize iPhone Storage". If that checkmark is on, your iPhone doesn’t contain your full-resolution 4K clips and 48MP ProRAW photos. It stores low-res thumbnail proxies to save internal space. When you do a phone transfer, it often transfers those cached thumbnails

You are up to date.
