Okay fine I put bsky back on my phone. Maybe I’ll use it more again. I kinda want to keep a log of what I’m playing every day. I don’t know. I’m treating it like old school social media where we just wrote all our thoughts out loud without a care in the world 😂

I was shocked to hear the news of the IGN layoffs, including amazing folk like Brian Altano and Seth Macy. And the changes to NVC podcast.

NVC has been in my ears for such a big part of my life. It's not just about keeping up with Nintendo anymore. It's also about spending a little bit of my week with people who get why I love this stuff so much, especially when I don't often get to have those conversations in my everyday

I have finally started playing DQ7 reimagined on the switch 2. The music is so good!! And i love being able to speed up battles, and tweak settings to make things easier or harder. I love having options for my playstyle at any moment

I didn’t share last week that I had written on The Long Play. Because I wasn’t too proud of it. I wrote it on my phone, in the evening, after a long day out. But I wrote something today that I do want to share because it wasn’t written in a dark hotel room 😅 thelongplay.bearblog.dev/i-think-i-mi...

Remember that Nintendo switch add where they’re at an airport and share the joycon controller with a stranger? Well today that ad came true. My son made a random friend at the airport and now they’re playing Mario together.

6. Super Mario Bros, played through SNES Super Mario All Stars on Nintendo Switch Online. (May 5 2026) I definitely do not remember finishing this game when I was a child. But it was interesting to see how some things just stuck in my memory. more here: thelongplay.bearblog.dev/super-mario-...

7. Cat Quest - completed July 1 2026. I picked this back up from my backlog because I played the Adventures of Elliot demo and wanted something that would scratch that action rpg itch. This did just that. I love that it is simple. It was so easy to pick up after not playing it for ages.

Oh my gosh. That is so sweet even for a digital doggo. And they can hang out with their other doggo friends. I love this.

Let me tell you about these small rooms: They exist outside the map. The player cannot reach them in any way except modding the game. So, what is its function, and why is there a dog in it? (1/n)

I am trying to prove to myself that I can do this. So i've picked a little corner on the internet to try and do the thing. I kept my own promise and posted two weeks in a row! Here are my thoughts on the Nintendo Direct, and how I've rewired my brain... thelongplay.bearblog.dev/my-thoughts-...

I was so happy to see Star Fox get the demo! As a kid I found it so hard. I don’t think I ever got past the first level. I really thought that after all these years of gaming I would have gotten better but turns out, it’s still a skill issue 😂 I redid that sharp left/right training way too much 😅

100% Agree! This game is so cozy. I just put it on, put on a podcast, and drive around. And buy all the cars along the side of the road 😂🚗

So, have The Gamers™️not realised that Forza Horizon 6 is a cozy game with cars? If the subject matter were something other than cars they'd be calling it a "girls game". Embrace the cozy! And check out my bright pink Toyota 86!

I’ve picked up dragon quest V again, after having put it down for a couple months, and oh my gosh…I just…LOVE dragon quest. There is a version of my life where I give up on the DQXI demo for the last time, and never get to experience this 😅

5. Pokemon Pokopia - completed on April 19 2026. I’m glad I finally rolled credits on this game. And I’m glad I pushed through to see the credits and how the story plays out. Bittersweet. Also, for someone who constantly complained about pokopia, I did end up logging 45 (or more) hours.

Which clearly shows me…I have time to game. Why am I always complaining I never have time to game? I put in 45 hours into this in a little over a month…

4. Super Mario Wonder - playing this with my son was WONDER-ful…once I accepted the chaos of two players on screen. It helped once I also just became a Yoshi rather than trying to grit through as a Mario or anyone else that can get hurt by enemies 😂

Seeing my son’s reaction to all the crazy wonder effects was the best. And the final bowser showdown was really fun. I imagine it would be a lot harder if I wasn’t a Yoshi. However the joy on my son’s face when he landed the final blow…worth all the Yoshis in the mushroom kingdom

For some reason it feels like such a hump to open up #pokopia I had planned to just get through the story, but every time I try to boot it up it just feels like a chore 🫣

3. New Super Mario Bros (DS) - completed on February 28 2026 with my son ❤️ What a special moment honestly. This game reminds me of when I was six years old, playing NES with my mom and brother, handing the controller back and forth.

It was so special to now be the mom, handing the DS back and forth between me and my son. I really enjoyed playing through this so many years later. The level design was really good, and as much as Wonder is so wonder-ful, there's just something about a more streamlined Mario experience.

Yay! My favourite podcast is back! I feel like y'all really captured the female experience in this episode. Kelsey's fear of everyone kicking her out of Pew Pew Bang is so real!

Thank you for writing this. I remember hiding my 3ds back when I was in an abusive relationship because I didn’t want my partner to break it in rage (he had already broken my MacBook screen 😵).

This post is unavailable.

This piece made me remember that time in my life, and how the 3DS was really an important part of me having something that was still truly me/mine regardless of whatever relationship I was in.

I cant stop thinking about #dragonquest y'all. DQ11s was my first. I'm still playing the post game, but there's something about the post game that I'm not super duper about. So I also picked up DQ5 on my 3DS. And oh my gosh...why is it so good?

Everything I dislike about games, like grinding, talking to every npc...I don't mind doing any of that in DQ. I feel like it respects my time even though I'm grinding? Even though I'm talking to every NPC? Even though I'm exploring every nook and cranny? How does it do that?

I hate to be that person, but dang I hope this comes to Switch one day 😅

I published my review of PancitoMerge today. This is an adorable puzzle game that celebrates Mexican baking, and it’s a great game for experienced and beginner gamers alike. Thank you @fayer.dev for the game key for this review!

2. The Roottrees Are Dead - completed on January 9th 2026 I wish I hadn’t had so much time between when I first started this game (early 2025) and when I locked in and completed it. Because the first hour was really me just trying to remember what little thread I was pulling.

This game made me think about how I take notes and why I take notes. Because so many of my notes in the in game notebook made 0 sense to me all these months later 😂

1. Lake - completed January 2nd 2026. What I liked about this game is it made me think about my old friendships and reconnecting with an old friend. How there’s all this history between us but also, we are different people than we were 20 years ago. And yet, also still the same.
