There's something about the odd-angles art style (it must have a name) for Day of the Tentacle that I don't entirely like. ๐Ÿค” But it's such an adorable game with smart writing and excellent voice acting. I soon forget and am just absorbed by the story.

Scarabaeus on the C64 has such a cool intro. (Though it always bugged OCD me that the title disappears while loading the game, but the shadow remains.) ๐Ÿค” Some real jump-scare moments in that game, that's for sure. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I dunno about you, but if I was going to investigate the atmosphere processing plant of a planet where the colonists have mysteriously disappeared, that's exactly the kind of vehicle I'd want to be doing it in. ๐Ÿ˜Ž (Knowing it's a Hunslet aircraft-towing tractor doesn't deter me in the slightest.) ๐Ÿ˜„

I liked how Raffaele Cecco would make games for the ZX Spectrum and C64, and you could tell that neither version was a simple port of the code and assets from the other. The capabilities of each machine was well used. (No monochrome graphics and software sprites here! Not *all* software sprites) ๐Ÿ˜‹

For comparison I should put some Speccy screenshots. ๐Ÿ˜Š I like these versions of the same game done on different systems by the same author. (Mercenary on C64 and Amiga would be a good example.) ..There are usually differences, but because the author's making all the calls, the gameplay matches. ๐Ÿ‘

Amok (VIC-20) 5K of RAM, 176x184 pixel screen, four sound channels, no sprites. I actually had a ton of fun with this unexpanded configuration of VIC-20. Most arcade conversions weren't exact, but Amok here made for a fun Berzerk clone. I spent hours on that game blasting robots. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐ŸŽต Yellowed creme and yellowed creme ๐ŸŽต ๐ŸŽต Live together in perfect harmony ๐ŸŽต ๐ŸŽต Side by side by my mouse and keyboard, oh Lord ๐ŸŽต ๐ŸŽต Why don't we? ๐ŸŽต (Apple/PC analogue joystick, and USB track ball.) ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yeah, I may have bought a joystick.. again. ๐Ÿ˜Š I already have one of these. They've got a real good feel to them. But the old one doesn't do "right" properly. This one is a bit twitchy on some of the movements, and fire. Might need some contact cleaner. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Deluxe Pac-Man AGA (Amiga) There may be a huge plethora of Pac-Man clones out there. But every once in a while, something like Deluxe Pac-Man appears, and everything's alright. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Interesting quirk with Deluxe Pac-Man: With a regular joystick or joypad, where odd movement combo's aren't possible, you're fine. But if you play it in an emulator with keyboard controls for the joystick, the game gets confused by any simultaneous up+down or left+right movements. Stuck in walls: ๐Ÿ˜„

Monkey Island 1 (FM Towns) I know there is much to be done to become a pirate.. I just keep revisiting it from time to time to give the old man a fright, sneak into the kitchen, and talk to the dog. ๐Ÿ˜„

I'm out travelling for a couple of days. Left the house quick, and I didn't get the GP2x handheld ready to take with me. ๐Ÿ˜ Last time I decided to focus on the Amstrad emulator, which I'd hardly touched before. Y'know, it was really fun to try new versions of old games I knew. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I was reminded how much I like Android II โ€” both the Speccy and C64 version. I found out the hard way that the Amstrad centipedes take three shots, not two. ๐Ÿ˜ I was also reminded how much I like, but I'm not very good at, Archon. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I haven't posted much Amiga content of late, partly because the machine can do so many screen modes that it can be hard to capture a video where the view doesn't jump about between the title/loading/game sections. ๐Ÿ˜ Paradroid 90 was nicely consistent here. Runs well in a 60Hz NTSC mode too. ๐Ÿ‘

The analogue movement on the stick is still quite good. The top button's a bit twitchy, but the base ones are good. And there's even a switch and handy adapter to use it on PC. I'm reminded how bad the old Apple 16-pin DIP joystick plug is. So darned fragile. The pins always get bent. ๐Ÿ˜
