How many times is this justification going to work?

Faytuks Network@faytuksnetwork.bsky.social

BREAKING: Israeli PM Netanyahu says Iran is “once again trying to develop nuclear bombs,” adding that “the only way to eliminate this threat once and for all is to topple the Iranian regime.” Netanyahu says he has instructed the IDF, Mossad and security agencies accordingly.

This story was so dumb and yet so incredibly pervasive in online left-of-center spaces over the past week. People were hallucinating a sudden major drop in activity in right wing online spaces and convincing each other it was real.

Elon Musk is rightly one of America's most hated people, and his truck may very well be as poorly designed and constructed as its critics claim. But I still think it looks cool, I'm sorry.

While we're talking partition, wouldn't it be cool if instead of the US there were 50 independent states? Think about it, is all I'm saying.

I don't get this story makes Biden look good

Peter Baker@peterbakernyt.bsky.social

The day that Biden grew so angry at Netanyahu that he nearly cut him off: "He was just completely fed up with everything and I think at that moment he was ready to just say, 'I’m done,'" Brett McGurk recalls as he releases "Brink," his memoir of Gaza war. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/u...

A lot of people have reverse-engineered their entire understanding of 🇮🇱/🇵🇸 specifically to defend Joe Biden in online arguments c. February 2024 and it all ends up being fascinatingly weird.

This is an argument I've never understood. Not only are Russian and Chinese parts and munitions not compatible with Israeli weapons systems, but what would make supporting Israel such an enticing prospect to a country that already has allies in the region. Allies that Israel is opposed to.

I think this is liberal cope, essentially. You can avoid confronting the evil of an American policy if you assume that America's rivals would do the same, if not worse.

It's likely a moot point because I don't know that the 2SS framework will ever be revived, but this "everyone knows Israel will keep the settlement blocs" argument has always bothered me.

Grave Dohl@letsdestroy.bsky.social

Exactly. The default assumption should be "Palestine gets the entirety of the OPT". If Israel and Palestine want to negotiate mutually beneficial land swaps, good for them, but one can't simply *assume* that Israel gets to keep the large settlement blocs simply because they settled them so heavily.

It goes to show how incredibly skewed the power relations were during the entire so-called "Peace Process" that Israelis could openly prejudge the outcome of negotiations in their favour and expect no consequences.

I'm libbin' out. This is the sweetest thing I've seen all day. 🥲

Child: This is my first time meeting a mayor. Mamdani: Wow, have you ever met a prime minister? Child: No Norway PM Jonas Gahr Støre: *walks over*

There's a guy (ostensibly a liberal) on this site vehemently arguing that this is fake lol. If you've followed events in Gaza over the last 3 years, you'll know that this is exactly how much of the territory now looks. Large parts of it (e.g. Rafah) are even worse, i.e. completely flattened.

This video was filmed in Palestine. My heart struggles to comprehend such cruelty and the heartbreaking disregard for human life. No human being should have to endure this.

It's strange observing such complete denial when faced with reality. And from someone (an American liberal who apparently has a PhD in history) that I would normally hold to a higher standard. I guess nobody is immune to ethno-nationalism or the immense cognitive biases that come with it.

Israelis and their supporters will point to images of rubble and say "war is hell", neglecting to address the fact that most of the rubble was created not during fighting but after the IDF took over.

Ngl I initially assumed all of Ansarollah's hardware was inherited from Saleh's military. I later assumed they were just using / assembling Iranian hardware that was smuggled in. Only now am I starting to realize how much indigenous engineering and manufacturing capacity they have.

Basically all skepticism towards this is just orientalism. They have an aerospace industry. It's incredibly effective despite operating with nearly zero resources. The people working in it are not stupid, nor are they too principled or pure to use the best tools available

It should be noted that they control Yemen's capital, it's demographic and agricultural heartland, and its second largest port. They are not the UN-recognized govt of Yemen but they seem to possess the capacity of a state. Calling them a "rebel group" is underselling what they actually are.

How many times does Israel have to elect a right-wing Netanyahu government before US leaders realize the problem isn't just Netanyahu? He's been prime minister for 19 of the last 30 years.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hillary Clinton: "I love Israel, and I hate Netanyahu's government and his policies. I love America, and I hate Trump's government and policies ... if the Israelis want to vote for that again, then I think the United States has to take a very tough position."

It's tempting to call him a dictator or dictator-lite, in the mold of Orban, Erdogan or Putin. But he doesn't have that personal grip on power. He's always at the mercy of his coalition and the (Jewish) Israeli electorate. The problem is that he keeps winning in elections and coalition politics.

There's something deeply unsettling about Holmes' face in this clip.

Yashar Ali 🐘@yasharali.bsky.social

Thirty-four days before she reported to prison, Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes gave Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim access to document her every move. That turned into a three-year project, and A24 will release the resulting documentary this October.

You can convince yourself that other drivers are subtly making way for you, intimidated by your size. You can convince yourself that they respect you and won't mess with you. You're sitting above them, like an armoured knight on horseback.

Having driven mostly compact cars, I think I finally understand the powerful allure of driving something enormous. It's incredibly seductive. Especially in a plush, well-insulated cabin, you feel invincible. There's a sense of inevitability to your moving down the road. Like a freight train.

I spent a week living a sort of "half-life" after moving (back) into my apartment where it was too messy and dirty and unsettled. But today I made my first cup of coffee at home (V60 pour over) and I feel like I'm finally living again.

Look, I hate to say it, but someone needs to shove this little dweeb (Cofnas) in a locker

Toby Buckle@polphilpod.bsky.social

the context is this confnas fucker talking about how africa being poor & europe wealthy means whites must be innately more intelligent (& dismissing any notion that the legacy of the atlantic slave trade, or global racial empire, might have a role as "mystical injustice")

Among other things, the next Democratic administration in the US needs to destroy this man

Note on pieces like these, not only is there no suggestion that Republicans should distance themselves from him, there's no hint that there's a reason to. No recap of his CSAM machine. No inflammatory racist quotes. No mention of the DOGE death toll. No history of his fabulist quotes.
