The story of this BC election isn’t just who won. It’s who didn’t vote. The NDP lost 270,000 votes, the Conservatives nearly 49,000, and overall turnout fell. Only the Greens gained votes. The BC election wasn’t decided by a surge of support for the winners, but by voters who stayed home. #bcpoli

President Trump temporarily waived clean-air rules for industrial facilities that spew cancer-causing gases. Then his appointees worked to gut the regulations altogether. Our investigative reporter Eric Lipton explains how corporate interests took power inside the EPA. Read more: nyti.ms/4il3336

Hot takes on muni election results last night? What a mixed bag. Ken Sim's crushing defeat says everything you need to know about how voters felt about last four years w/ABC in YVR. Progressives held their own in Victoria but damaging campaign from IAFF against the previous council majority...(1/2)

...had an impact on the results. New Westminister took a hard turn to the right after years of progress with Community First (don't let the name "New West Progressives" fool you). Doug McCallum in Surrey...again? Saanich said no to change and collaboration...at least for now. That's all I got.

Colleague: "Conservatives are promising to scrap Massey Tunnel." Me: "What are they going to replace it with? A bridge?" Yep. This is BC Liberal revenge fantasy come to life (which somehow seems more normie than what the "conservatives" have brought to the party). #bcpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Here come the DRIPA questions. Eby: "Two cornerstones to our success in our province, there's only one path forward: working in partnership with First Nations." Doerksen: "DRIPA has to be repealed. Lowan: "Conservatives are pushing misinformation and blatant fear mongering." #bcpoli

Doerksen on housing affordability and accessibility: "The bureaucratic nightmare for builders." He's talking about permitting (which is a municipal issue - hello!), but then says province shouldn't be pushing municipalities to build more. I disagree. #bcpoli

I was listening to CBC Victoria this morning + heard mayoral candidate Bruce McGuigan dump on developers for not building more parking. The reason parking mins are going way of the dodo is that fewer people can afford to buy homes + drive. Eliminating parking reduces cost of a home by $60,000 plus.

These are being circulated together in my neighborhood. Sustainable Victoria. They’re not even trying to hide the fact that is the same people distributing both.

The Alberta government pays millions to cover oil and gas companies’ delinquent lease payments. Which companies had land rents paid by taxpayers in 2025? Gov’t agencies don’t track and summarize that data. The IJF analyzed thousands of documents to answer this question. zurl.co/IuOMT

What a cluster. And the fact that senior staff are going on leave a week before the school year is about to started says a lot about their priorities (or their legal advice). Victoria school district superintendent, other senior staff on leave cheknews.ca/victoria-sch...
