It's the two-year anniversary of my egg cracking! 🐣 And so, as is tradition, I will re-post a link to the thread that did it. bsky.app/profile/magi...

hey guys: so you've thought about gender and decided that, although you aren't particularly attached to being "a man," you don't think you're trans because you don't "want to be a woman." i know that feel. here are some symptoms of dysphoria that were present in nearly every aspect of my life:

I also cannot say enough in thanks to all of y'all beautiful trans, queer and gender-nonconforming people on here. Your lives and your stories and your before-and-after threads (!!) showed me that it's possible, and I literally wouldn't be here without you.

Random thought - it is en vogue to tailor a campus website entirely to prospective students. I think that's a mistake. If I want to get to know a campus, I want to read about the resources at the LGBT+ center. I want to see the campus calendar. I want to look at the Student Code of Conduct. 1/2

Having these "internal" campus pages be publically available inspires trust. It rounds out the picture I can get from the website. And the more I see that I want to connect with, the more excited I get. 2/2

I was clocked at a shopping mall coming out of a women's restroom today by a guy who just *had* to say something about it. I ignored him and walked away. That was probably the last he thought of it. I haven't stopped since. 1/

The queer folks who follow me have heard or lived this story. But if you're cis, and you are in a position to advocate for bathroom facilities that don't make me and my queer siblings make this choice, PLEASE DO SO. 5/

I also clocked a couple of trans gals walking in as I was walking out. They, however, were projecting femininity. Dresses, hair, makeup. I'm in a cami top and shorts 'cause it's fuckin hot outside. Would that dude have had the balls to say something to them? I bet not. 4/

I do the mental calculus each time I need to use a restroom in public. I'm more likely to be assaulted in a men's room, but I'm more likely to be assaulted coming out of a women's room. And trust me, what flashed through my mind was absolutely "what will I do if he escalates?" 2/

I had a similar experience with my gender transition. All the sadness and discomfort and abuse that I endured and DIDN'T NEED TO.... it lands on you like a ton of bricks.

Like Nome, I started meds late (age 43 for me) and I will also warn you that after you take your first dose of the med that works for you (which is not always the first med you try!) it is very common to have an utter meltdown over how fucking long it took and how long you were struggling!

This thread is a GODDAMN MASTERPIECE of synthesis. Required reading.

Douglas Adams: > Anything in the world when you're born is normal, ordinary and a natural part of the world. Anything invented between when you’re 15-35 is new, exciting and revolutionary and you can get a career in it. Anything invented after you're 35 is against the natural order of things. 1/

Pride Month repost: @aprilcicada.bsky.social, a resident of a small town in Texas, comes out as transgender in our pages, and shares what it was like to grow up in the Lone Star State.

why did you transition, right answers only Y'all kept posting before-and-after pictures and the wave of longing that swept through me was something I couldn't ignore. What would it be like to intentionally make a "me" that I loved? I finally couldn't wait any more to find out.

why did you transition, right answers only i knew she was in there and keeping her hidden away from the world was too painful to bear

I spent much of the next day sobbing on my couch. For the life of me, I could not figure out why I was so emotional. My friend pointed out that this was likely the first trans space I had ever been in, and maaaaaybe that had something to do with it? 2/

The best damn burger I've ever had was at a place called Cured, now sadly closed. It was served on a metal rimmed tray with a piece of butcher paper. Plain bun and a bare patty and it was A REVELATION.

I am enough of an institutionalist that I still generally believe that the facts reported by "old media" are factual, while saving my skepticism for what they choose to report or not. But this is gross. Clear and convincing evidence of an editorial double standard. Just 🤮🤮🤮.

The NYT removed the "um"s in Trump's answer on Taiwan, but put "um"s in AOC's answer on Taiwan to make her look dumb Trump said "Um, I would say 'like' is maybe too strong a word...um, no, I'm holding that in abeyance and it depends on China, depends, it's a, it's a.." L: Trump R: AOC Video below

Take it as a compliment. I am assuming (a) that you are doing it unintentionally, and (b) will want to modify your behavior if I point it out. If I'm not confident in both, I'm not going to say anything.

I don't have any words.

“The memo bars professors from discussing LGBTQ+ topics in core and lower-level courses and eliminates entire fields of study across the five-university system.” Absolutely terrifying assault on LGBTQ folks and on academic freedom.
