apropos of nothing, New Mexico generally seems like a really chill place

Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01)@repstansbury.bsky.social

Whether in New Mexico or at the national level—as a proud member of the Equality Caucus—we are fighting every day to make sure every person can live as their true, joyful and authentic self, to pass the Equality Act, and to protect the rights and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community.

After the first round elections, Congressman André Janones created a WhatsApp channel titled “Lula’s Army.” It ballooned to 10 million people following his commands on how to behave online to counteract Meta’s far-right-favouring algorithms. The right knows how to use socials. We must learn, too.

Every time I see this Last Week Tonight episode pop up I think of Henry (this is the one he was in), how much he had ahead of him, and how I wish he was still here in the fight with us now

Seeing a lot of fear-mongering on my timeline tonight from trans folks and allies outside of B.C. Yes, this result is what it is. But this is not a “stockpile your HRT now” situation. And I think suggesting people do that is uneccessary and actively harmful to people who actually live here.

BREAKING: SCOTUS rejects Trump admin's request to allow it to end gender-affirming medical care in prisons — a significant, if tentative, rejection of one of the admin's most extreme anti-trans arguments. Only Thomas and Alito noted they would have granted the stay. More to come: www.lawdork.com

What R is going to James Carville for permission to do anything at all

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

James Carville on Republicans who are done with Trump: "It's okay to vote Democratic. You have permission to do it. It's the right vote right now.”

I can count at least four ways this skeet illustrates a profound lack of understanding of how the Senate works or where folks’ votes would be on this hypothetical bill Can you find a fifth?

3) if Schumer is against it, it doesn’t move at all 4) you can’t just come up with a hypothetical pro trans bill and vision cast it. What is the bill? Who wrote it, does the equality caucus sign on, does it have a House companion? What committee is Warren on where she can move it through?

John Fetterman has been pro-trans from the jump and has gotten entirely too much shit from our community and if he ever turns on us, well, it’s not like we made it a difficult choice (I don’t think he will)

For those keeping score: 1) Fetterman would more likely than not be on the pro side of pro-trans legislation but none of you fuckers are ready to have an adult conversation about that 2) it would fail because it wouldn’t have 60 votes, not because four Dems would defect

Bill Kristol Thought on Wokeism with Individual Responsibility Characteristics for a New Era

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

Is it woke to be horrified by what happened at Cornell--and by the "boys will be boys" excuse-making of so many then and now? If so, perhaps we should all be a little more woke?

You probably assumed that the show must finally be over—Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and her supporters would surely have to pack it in. You simpleton! Have you learned nothing from watching these guys in action? hellgatenyc.com/zombie-brook...

anybody have a line on the DC SBOE races? my ward has two people who are both policy- or policy-adjacent at think tanks and whose platforms are practically identical (and neither seems to want to take a holding-parents-accountable approach on truancy)

IMO he is lying about Obergefell simply to try and give Rs as soft a landing in the midterms as possible. We all know they’re gunning for it as soon as they can. Don’t believe him.

Marty Lederman@martylederman.bsky.social

Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests. Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade. Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."
