I think good things are good and bad things are bad. Tired and distracted. The future’s all that’s left, if you think about it.

I have played a lot of this game and occasionally got unreasonably upset when I made a mistake or lost. my most played character was Goodra, a booger dragon from a game I never played

Watching this thing suggests all over again that AI-generated art's central failing continues to be that the kinds of people who might use AI tools to make something interesting are the kinds of people who hate the supposed shortcut of using AI tools because they enjoy the work of making art.

It's funny how the Defenders of Western Civilization really want Odysseus to be this heroic patriarchal figure when he is canonically kind of a dirtbag.

Me sailing to find out if Netflix’s Below, the hit show giving Newfoundland a little cultural moment on a global stage, was made before Mark Carney gutted Trudeau/Guilbeault’s streamer reforms that required Netflix et al to produce some Canadian content:

Ottawa bends over backwards for Alberta Oil, Steven Guilbeault leads criticism, now Ottawa bends over backwards for mega corp Netflix to gut the Online Safety Act reform—spearheaded by Trudeau minister Steven Guilbeault.

Truer today than when it was written

re: How's it going? I'm thinkin about becoming a Can't Complainer, but I also watch my parents and their peers, raised by heroes of the Depression and WWII, steadfastly remain Can't Complainers even though it's obvious their burdens are literally killing them, and that also doesn't seem good 🤷‍♂️

Years back my dad gave me some issues of The Economist so I could “read some really good writing.” Writing like: DOGE was a huge missed opportunity. Elon Musk's tech-savvy footsoldiers saw the law as an obstacle to work around rather than a guide as they tried to reform the federal government.

not to be a hater on main, but she feels like SNL realized they should have hired Lauren Lapkus 15 years too late now they’re like “we’ve got Gen Z Lapkus!” and I’m crossing my arms going “it’s not the same, it’s not the one I wanted”

Breaking: Tim Burton's Beetlejuice occasionally did not connection with 69-year-old, 1919-born Pauine Kael

[BEETLEJUICE] Tim Burton takes stabs into the irrational, the incongruous, the plain nutty. And though a lot of his moves don’t connect, enough of them do to make this spotty, dissonant movie a comedy classic. (1988)

Starting a training course for the left that just consists of me saying "something can be morally compelling but still tactically foolish" again and again and again.

Ronald Reagan, except this time, he’s Liberal* *Important note: This is the name of a political party, not a descriptor of ideology or policy. As we all know, an ideologically Liberal Reagan is a paradox that would tear space time asunder with but a whisper

Haus of Decline@hausofdecline.bsky.social

Carney is truly the Reagan of Canada. A calming, paternalistic figure in a period of apocalyptic uncertainty who galvanizes the economy with short-sighted right wing fiscal policies. And like Reagan, every disaster that Canada encounters in the future will be traceable to his administration.

The oil industry is unwilling to pay for this pipeline because even they know the world is moving away from fossil fuels. This project leaves Canadians bearing all the risks of a bad investment without any of the rewards.

Yowza! Who’s happier with Lib PM Carney than disastrous Con PPM Ford? (Hard mode: You can’t say disastrous Con PPM Smith)

Toronto Star@thestar.com

Premier Doug Ford says Ontario taxpayers will help fuel a proposed 3,300-km oil pipeline from Alberta to Sarnia that could ultimately cost tens of billions of dollars. The premier said the project was necessary because of the existential threat posed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war.

As someone who knows what words mean and cares about what words mean, every single Ontario television ad under Doug Ford stokes white hot rage in me, and the latest one is a new low.

"Business" and "industry" ads are one thing, but I could forge steel after watching those diverse millennial parents ignoring their kids at the playground so they can all thank Ontario for the future careers those unseen kids will get because of provincially mandated STEM education.
