This is exactly what I mean when I say online writing isn't for human beings anymore.

I've been in web development for over 20 years, this is the first time I've seen a "We're taking everyone's sites down until they're patched" response. It's big.

My very first job was in a factory that made the sandwiches for the meal deals at M&S, Waitrose, Sainsburys, Co-op, Asda, Boots and Tesco. I made it 3/4 of a shift and didn't go back after my break.

Can I pull together a lineup or what? Truly incredible night celebrating Star Trek’s 60th Anniversary. We talked real space exploration, in show prosthetics, alien biology and chatted to Scotty himself, Martin Quinn 📸 James Klug

New PISA data out England is now top ten in all three areas (reading, maths, science) and the second highest performing country outside of east Asia (after Estonia). This is a huge public policy success.

They'll be a lot of chatter about England's PISA results this morning, but we need to talk just as much about Wales. They rejected phonics and knowledge-rich curricula in favour of 'areas of learning', 'skills suites' and barely any testing. Wales is now 40 points below England in every domain.

Hey guys! I’ve made a new Raspberry Pi based MP3 player, just like the old MP3 players from before streaming & subscriptions took over. I’m calling it “iPod”, since no one’s using that name right now. I can’t see anyone having a problem with that, and it is indeed how trademarks and copyright work.

Christ the marketing copy was written by AI too. I'd bet the entire platform is vibe coded.

So the people launching a new Twitter under the name Twitter launched their thing so I signed up. Turns out they have an AI scanning tweets for "truth" and it currently has no idea what it's doing. Posted something innocuous about Star Wars Zero Company and it essentially blocked it from all feeds.

Let's also not forget that Dolly Parton was also an uncredited producer behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a formative TV Show for me. It's not as impressive as her philanthropy or song writing talent, but god she's indirectly been responsible for so many moments in my life.

The wider issue is the peanuts UKRI is operating with. Under £10bn for the engine of the UK's research in ALL subjects should be a national disgrace. Jodrell Bank is a helpful example but we are losing so much across *every* research field. This underfunding will damage the UK for decades to come.

This is so stupid and short-sighted. I wonder if Burnham knows they're stripping funding from an iconic science institution in Manchester?! 🔭🧪 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Because the IAU officially classifies a brown dwarf as a substellar object rather than a planet, anything orbiting it is circling a primary body, not a secondary planet. Therefore, by definition, it is a planet. In other words, "That's no moon".
