guys. i just need to shout this somewhere. the ending to chapter 6 of trails in the sky sc? Peak. Beautiful. currently swollen with emotion. how'd they make such incredibly lovely characters, it's crazy.

i think what i respect the absolute most about toby is his ability to meld gameplay and narrative together. it feels like he puts so much thought into how a mechanic feels and how it can be interpreted in the overarching narrative. i think that's the biggest thing a lot of Games As Art people miss

the interactivity is one of the biggest things separating games from movies... i don't want to just watch kratos impale the bad guy in a cutscene you know, i want to feel how that impaling that guy feels in the mechanics of the game if that makes sense

i wasn't really resonating very well at all with chapter 1 when i played it in 2018 (and also now ngl) so i never checked out 2 until now but it's very good. that guy toby might know how to make a game
