Hi, bweh here. I've heard about the Discord age verification thing. Here's my thoughts: CC verification via Stripe is PERFECTLY FINE. I utilize Stripe for payments via Ko-Fi. I get VERY LITTLE PII about my friends/supporters. IT'S FINE. App store verification is pretty good too. No PII is shared.

App store verification. I don't know much about that thing, but I assume that Apple/Google's stores have information that we don't know because WE DOWNLOAD APPS ALL THE TIME. And I'm pretty sure to download most apps, you need a form of payment on file with Apple first.

The takeaway here is, there are options for age verification that absolutely do not require you to give Discord your Personally Identifiable Information. As someone who has worked with several companies regarding PII, this is honestly a huge win for consumers. So stop fearmongering and relax. Please

Regarding Stripe verification: all I get as a business owner is legal name, last four of card, whether it's Visa/MC/AmEx, country and email. That is it. I'm sure Stripe connects to Visa/MC/AmEx to verify age, but that means k-ID and Discord ONLY hear Stripe say "Yea" or "Nay".

I have not streamed in nearly six weeks, and I wanna get back into it. Problem is, I'm unsure what to stream. I've shared my Steam library/profile with my community on Discord, and I've got some feedback, but what would y'all wanna watch me play? JRPGs, open-world survival, tactical shooters (more🔻)

I will add pressure to this by saying that any company that claims to not hold onto your personal data after verifying you? They're lying. Ive been nitro free since the first time they tried this, voice how you feel with your wallet people. Make them really feel that squeeze.
