I maintain that what we are really learning is NOT that AI is powerful, but rather that many big CEOs are stunningly mediocre. Even helpless. Have they just been cos-playing business people all these years?

Hahahahahahah to police presence at future games. Do they really think fans are coming back? They should be so lucky.

CF Montreal has issued lifetime bans to several fans after “acts of vandalism” and pyrotechnics were thrown on the field after Wednesday’s match.

AI broke the internet as we knew it, and not in a good way. It also, and perhaps more importantly, undermined so much of the trust and collaboration that made the internet powerful in the first place. This article provides a great overview.

The AI companies claiming they helped find the latest php vulnerability feels a lot like a burglar trying every door in your building and claiming it’s for your protection. I don’t think the average person has any idea how much time is being spent keeping AI-enabled bad actors at bay.

Now I’m even angrier. To think that the coach was going to bring in a new keeper for penalties, one who has never played with the team, and pull out Breza, a guy who has had nothing but good energy and a willingness to help out for years. Who’s worse? A bad boss, or the people who keep him?

Woke up this morning clear-headed, then bam! Last night’s train wreck hit me. I am so angry on behalf of the players. To play down a man and have unused subs while the guys on the field are exhausted is unforgiveable. Give them support, a chance to win. Don’t hang them out to dry.

I am just gutted for the players. The team had the pieces to win the game and management effed it up. Everything was there. The fans even showed up and did their part. Management didn’t give it everything. They didn’t commit to winning. They just put in some time and clocked out. #CFMTL

Craig could barely walk back to the bench. A coach should never abandon the players like that. And: Owusu shouldn’t shoot first. He has already missed one. Give him a chance to settle in, clear his head. Synchuk should never be in the top 5 kicks. He struggles with judgement and precision.

That was brutal mismanagement. Vera needed to come off at the half- he was angry and already on a yellow; the red was inevitable. Reinforcements needed to come at/by 60 minutes to change the pace and save some legs. I am dying to know what Sanchez was saying to Eullafroy on the bench. #CFMTL

The PHP Foundation has revealed two serious vulnerabilities that could impact millions of websites. Security experts warn that failure to quickly patch the flaws could have dire consequences.

You will not convince me today that AI has been good for the internet. Or trust. Or intelligence. Or democracy.

Saw You Can See Everything in a packed theatre on a Monday night. Yay, for live experiences. My mind is still spinning.

The Cameron House is classic Queen West, a holdout from an era when the city celebrated live music and the joy of pre-digital found-fun living. Snare in the window, Jake and the Blue Midnights come to mind when I remember warm nights and music on the air in Toronto.

"Stop comparing the flawed thing we have to an idealized version of something that doesn’t exist." That's basically my position on every political, social, and economic issue in 2026. It's remarkably appropriate for basically every situation in this griftocracy.

I’m more than moderately obsessed with the concept of feedback. Also, it bugs me when people dismiss the feedback needs of other people/ generations instead of focusing on what really matters: how do we create the conditions for anyone to develop their full potential? Hence this article …

Entremission@entremission.com

All humans need feedback to develop and excel. It’s not a weakness. It’s not a generational flaw or failing. It’s just a fact. If you’re early in your career or just feeling a bit isolated, don’t wait for the world to pay attention. You need feedback, and the world needs you.

Could we please agree that using the word "pod" as a short form for "podcast" is an affront to all that is sensible? "Pod" isn't skeuomorphic or anachronistic. It's just always been wrong. In the portmanteau, "cast" is the part that matters. I've tried to let it go, but I can't. Tx.

From Einaudi to Gorillaz, musical bookends to the week. Thank you #Montreal. Thank you, touring musicians.

Having pages on your website that you've never looked at is like having rooms in your house that you've never entered. It's weird, people. OTH, having pages on your website you haven't looked at in years ... that's just like every closet everywhere and I cannot judge you.

Good grief. This story needs to get out because more people need to know that (a) your friends are giving away your contact info and (b) this is one way that political discourse has been mechanized. Don’t trust social media. (she says, on social media)

This morning — following two investigations into Toronto mayoral candidate Brad Bradford's use of an app that rewards supporters for posting AI-generated comments and sharing contacts — Bradford called our reporting "inaccurate." We're now releasing the recording that proves our reporting.

Academics always knew that one potential issue with public-private partnerships, contracts, and self-regulation would be government's dwindling in-house expertise to effectively evaluate and manage private sector behaviour. That theoretical issue feels blindingly, terrifyingly real right now.

Once, I was interviewing a candidate for a job alongside another manager. The manager brought a coffee to the interview. Of course, Starbucks had written her name completely wrong on the cup. Throughout the interview, the candidate referred to the manager by her Starbucks name. It was so awkward.
