I'm writing a book at the moment set in the future and the concept of Chekov as a symbol of how things change is in the back of my head with one character. Sad times

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Sometimes I tune in to The Last Leg and it's a really good example of something becoming so established it becomes part of the Establishment

I've been looking at getting some supplies in for emergencies, even a solar powered extension lead kind of thing. Now I just look like Im listening to Wes Streeting. Proper embarrassing

I've never seen Hellraiser which feels like a massive oversight since I've seen the other classic horror franchises pretty much in full. Think I need to correct that this year

there’s no such thing as “strategic bigotry.” I know this because there is no amount of money you could pay me to become a bigot. the democrats who do this agree to do it because they’re bigots

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

If you are telling people to vote for trans hating democrats you will be getting a blocking. Your views are unimportant and I don't want to see them

Now obviously this is an extremely intense form of McCarthyism, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that these people are primarily just horrible, very right wing psychos.

Yes she’s a crank and a shitehawk but, what? Is this not what our more reasonable, respectable politicians mean, when they talk about the left? Of course it’s what they mean, they just think saying it this bluntly would be uncouth.

Glee shouldn't be revived but if they are going to just do it in a new school with completely different characters but just the same basic concept. And stronger writing

Made it out to my regular quiz for the first time in about a year (team having different issues stopping us meeting up) only to find out the regular DJ is leaving. Gutted

Constantly feels like everything is on the brink of collapse, like we are all pretending the basic shape of everything is the same it's always been when it clearly isn't

Adam’s point here is that Morgan McSweeney’s secret wrecking operation in 2018-19 - the one that he and his buddies have since spoken about at some length - included a concerted effort to destroy that publication and put it out of business. He’s gloating, here.

I've started writing a book recently and the amount of times I've looked something up I've known about just to make sure I was right is ridiculous, best believe I'm looking into the stuff I don't know

AC Shadows letting you do the "Path of" stuff whenever you want them forcing you to do them again as part of a story mission is awful game design. Just lock them off until this point

If I ever play Doctor Who, my weird thing, like the rainbow scarf or the celery in the pocket, is going to be just me saying ‘JKR sucks’ all the time.

I do a weekly quiz at my work and I try to avoid questions where someone truly awful is involved, your Rowlings, Cleeses and Gaimans for example. And it doesn't make it easy

This is the thing that really galls me. The left did everything by the rules: won people over with argument, earned their positions through reasoned debate. And then they hit the brick wall veto that was Peter Mandelson’s friends and his media allies saying: absolutely not, we will not allow it.

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

Literally did what people are supposed to do: organise, debate, make arguments and win people over to supporting you, then make your case through the democratic process. Look at what they got, for playing by the rules.

This is really a fucking incredible one, the Mail has been insanely reactionary for as long as I’ve been able to read

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

New White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia: “They have said I only took questions from conservative outlets. However, The Daily Mail is not known to be a conservative outlet or friendly to conservatives.” Brits everywhere: *hysterical laughter*

Wild that politicians can take pride in trying to wipe out a minority but if I say something as simple as "I hope you stand on a piece of Lego barefoot" I'd be the one facing repercussions

Remember how Steve Reed basically snapped his fingers, and the education minister then set Ofsted on that school? Recall how some of the most obviously depraved MPs set the IOPC on that copper who banned those fascist hooligan football fans? It really looks like that’s just How It Works

if you still support Labour at this point you are 100% a bigot yourself, there’s no excusing how fucking hateful and violent they are in their actions and rhetoric towards marginalised people

Tiger (He/They)@tigerknight957.bsky.social

God isn’t it great having a labour government, labour MPs are so great if you ignore the unwillingness to nationalise anything, blaming migrants, attacking the disabled community and the constant unrelenting transphobia

If you are freaking out that a Green policy might result in discrimination but are voting Labour despite how they treat trans people and refugees you might just be scum

this is your regular reminder that the labour party is mass murdering transgender ppl, systemically eradicating us, and this nhs 'guidance' is the latest part of that 'gender critical' is not feminism it is a neonazism movement that seeks to mass murder and erase transgender ppl from society

รℓσαɳε ℓყรɓεƭɦ@sloanelysbeth.northsky.social

peter doesn't care about the morality he just cares about what percentage of the population this will appeal too funny how he doesn't view labour's transphobic policies in terms of public appeal labour are mass murdering transgender ppl. the cass review has killed over 600 ppl in less than 2 years

I've always been a picky eater so when I basically lived off of burger and chips growing up it was pretty clear I was weird. Other reasons too but that was the most noticeable. Took me until my 30s to not feel ashamed of being odd

Gail Simone@gailsimone.bsky.social

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?
